Lights, camera...passion.
She has no time for love...
Katie Simon, 26, has one goal: to make a success of the small-town bakery she inherited from her grandmother. The combination of a disastrous dating history and endless work hours equal a distinct lack of romance in Katie's life, and she relies mainly on the company of her two best friends, Tess and Jax. Try as they might to get her to date, Katie's having none of it.
He wasn't looking for love...
Mason Scott, 30, one of Hollywood's hottest actors, is in Mountain Valley on a two-week location shoot for his latest movie. Early one morning he stumbles into Katie's bakery, drawn by the familiar scent of his own grandmother's cinnamon buns. When he meets Katie, it's clear she has no idea who he is. The attraction is immediate, and he's so delighted with his newfound anonymity that he finds every excuse to be with her.
But sometimes, things are beyond our control.
The more time they spend together, the hotter things get. When the truth comes out about Mason's identity and Katie realizes what's at stake, she quickly backs away from a life she'd never coveted. But the dual promise of a chance with Mason and the one shot at realizing her life-long dream make her reconsider everything she's ever believed to be true.
Can a small-town girl make it work with Hollywood's leading man?

About the author

Sydney Campbell came onto the contemporary romance scene with Temptation, her debut novella which introduced readers to Allie Styles and Matt Goldberg. Allie and Matt are a couple of star-crossed lovers who share smart dialogue, wild adventures, and smoking-hot sex.
Campbell enjoys writing relatable characters who are facing the same struggles and obstacles we face every day. But they face them with humour, wit, and passion. Lots of steamy passion.
Campbell grew up in a semi-traditional household filled with artists. Both her parents and siblings pursued their dreams in one way or another, so she decided to follow suit. Her entire family is proud of her writing career. They just don't know about this side of it. Shhh.

Not the deepest of romance connections.
Read it but won’t remember it.
Liked some of the secondary characters more.
Found Katie shallow and selfish at times.
Mason, I understood his wanting that anonymity but he should have been honest sooner.
Ended without feeling rounded out.

The h is the owner and chef of the local bakery. The H is a big time movie star and is filming in her town. He drops into her bakery one early morning to buy coffee and cinnamon rolls. The h doesn’t recognize him and he finds that refreshing. He tells her that he works on the movie set as a grip. He continues to drop in early to talk to her and take baking lessons from her. The cat is out of the bag when she surprises him with pastries on the movie set. They decide that the nature of his work and her wanting privacy can only result with the them being friends while he is filming in town. They wind up sleeping together but stay friends. One international trip and job together lead them beyond the friendship stage. The two get a HFN after months of spending time time together and admitting that they love each other.
The story moves at a good clip while the two are building a relationship. They didn’t jump right into bed. There is no drama or conflict. It’s like a Hallmark movie except for the sex scenes. The relationship set up is done very well. Unfortunately there isn’t much of an ending. The H swoops back into town weeks after the h told him to stop contacting her after they had hit the headlines. He tells the h that he loves her and that he bought a warehouse in town. She tells him that she loves him too. That was the end. No epilogue or a commitment.
A 2.5 read. I liked the h’s besties.
