Born on San Juan Island, KING ALBERT KELLY STRASSER IV (typically just called Albert, much to his chagrin) considered growing up, thought better of it, and decided instead to begin writing stories for "the people who understand me." An experimenter by nature, he tends to try things that don't work and ask questions that get him into trouble. A Buddhist practitioner, dancer, poet, and eater of pastries, Albert currently resides somewhere new with his imaginary pet salamander, Sir Hugh Hamilton Rothschild Sr.

FLAVIA SORRENTINO lives and works as a freelance illustrator in Rome, where she grew up. She loves her city and the figure of speech, "Rome wasn't built in a day," which inspires her each day to seek new ways of communication and expression. She has worked hard on her technique which has taken her across the globe, from France to America and beyond! She has a true passion for Toulouse-Lautrec, poetry, historical costume, typography, Tina Turner, and tomato sauce! --This text refers to the hardcover edition.

I ordered this book for my partner's niece and nephew but of course, wanted to read it before sending it their way. This book is a testimony to the everlasting themes in our life that speak to overcoming fears, leaning into the unknown, and ultimately the growth that we experience when we trust our hearts. As children, exploring new territories of our beings can be scary (jeez, ain't that the truth throughout adulthood too!), Strasser's writing is an invitation to remember that if we don't leave our comfort zone and try new things, we may not learn the important lessons about ourselves that are waiting to be discovered. I highly recommend this book.

I read this story to my 5-year-old nephew and there was nothing but giggles and intrigue throughout the entire story. He and I both took a journey to see how limiting fear can be overcome when there is a seemingly looming issue, all while learning that pushing through those fears can give you a sense of freedom and bliss. I recommend this tale to any youngster - or youngster at heart - who is consumed by thoughts of limitation caused by the outside world (and who loves a good rhyme) :)
