Optimal Signal Transfer
In addition to its durable, protective, black PVC exterior, the cable features buffer tubing and corrosion-resistant, gold-plated connectors for a distortion-free stream of fiber-optic digital audio. Compared to ordinary electrical wires where there can be electromagnetic or radio frequency interference, the signal is more pure, offering clearer audio for a more genuine rendering of the originally recorded sound.
Thoughtfully constructed, the AmazonBasics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable provides connector grips for easy handling; a lightweight, flexible form; and removable rubber tips that protect the cable when it's not plugged in. To use, simply connect each end to its respective port on a compatible device and it's ready to go. Choose from a variety of sizes including 6-feet long (1.8 meters), 9.8-feet long (3 meters), and 3.3-feet long (1 meter) (each sold separately).
The AmazonBasics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable works with most standard and high-definition devices fitted with Toslink ports. Use it with anything from high-def gaming systems and LCD flat-panel TVs to Blu-ray/DVD players and satellite/cable boxes. The cable's multi-channel connection will even send a Dolby Digital or DTS soundtrack to an audio processor or A/V receiver so you can enjoy a sensational surround-sound experience. The cable is compatible with S/PDIF and ADAT's, as well.

I used it to connect my Tata Sky HD+ box to my home theater.
Sound quality is amazing.
It works superb in my living room.
Just make sure that the length for the cable will be sufficient before you place the order.
My set up is TCl 55inch smart tv and an MI soundbar, the cable supports only stereo sound (youtube sound plays wells with it cause its stereo ). the sounds start to crack and buzz when Netflix or prime videos are played in Dolby audio setting. the only way to make it work is to view Netflix and prime in a stereo setting which is disappointing. I would like a refund for it.
After scheduling TWICE, no one showed up. 2 Customer services representatives giving 2 different answers. Unbelievable that amazon has this kind of service.
Sound quality just changed in a second, it was awesome, crystal-clear sound & I was watching a movie on StarMovies (SD), not even HD or something.
And, quality of the cable is neat, pretty thick to protect the optical fibre inside but, still very very flexible.

When I tried it, initially disappointed because the sound was intermittent joining TV to Soundbar.
By looking on the interweb, I discovered that it might have protective covers.
When I looked closely, it did.
They are very small and translucent and so difficult to spot if you're not looking for them.
Once they were removed it all worked fine
Performance / Fit - Connection is solid, not loose and without drop-outs, and the cable is chunky (good thing), and flexible.
Recommend? - Highly, never has an issue with any AmazonBasic products. Quality kit.
First time using AmazonBasics products however I will use more in future and have heard good things about their other products.
FYI not all TVs have an optical out slot so check yours does before purchase.
Secondly, this, and all optical cables, come with a small rubber protective cap on each end - you need to remove this before using or it won't fit.
Update: lesson learned - don't cheap out on things you are installing inside a brick wall. While these are great for direct from TV to sound bar connections (you really don't need anything more elaborate than the basics, even for surround sound), once you add a few connectors, wall plates, 90 degree bends and a two of these, the light attenuation exceeds the threshold for carrying audio signal from the TV to the sound bar.
I now have to hope that I can fish these out of the wall and draw through higher quality glass (vs. plastic) ones.
Simply its a great quality and durable cable compared to the one I got included with my sound bar
The price is great considering how thick the cable is and the sound quality enabled by this (noticeable extra bass frequency compared to the really thin cable I had prior to this)
The only downside to this cable for me is that the end of the cable is quite large and blocky, on my sound bar there are other ports really close to the optical port so it does get in the way almost to the point of not being able to use the surrounding ports. Just worth mentioning if you have a product with that design.
I can definitely recommend this cable if you are in need of a good quality cable for your surround system/sound bar or to replace a crappy cable you may have received with your speakers.
Well - I bought a similar one at £15.00 from our local hi-fi store, but then needed another and went for the Amazon Basics version at a third the price. It's a bargain.
Im a fibre optic engineer 34 years in the trade and find it amazing Amazon can make these so cheaply for the quality- please dont be fooled into thinking youd get a more superior fibre patch cable should you pay way more trust me you wont , its hilarious exactly same as when people buy HDMI leads they think their 4k blu ray viewing will be enhanced if they purchase a 40 quid gold plated oxygen free cable load of old waffle a 5 quid lead will be equally as good all marketing to catch gullible people ...... incidentally boring fact 'toslink 'is the generic name given to fibre patch cables used for domestic audio and vision cause it was introduced by Toshiba back in the 80's !
