I took my first long holiday journey to mountains with Rooftop Car Carrier Bag, carrying my two large suitcases within it on my Car's roof. Initially, I was afraid and drove at slow speed. However, after some time, I gained confidence and accelerated my car to 100 and 120 kms/ hour speed on highways. We encountered heavy rains during the journey. The bag kept our suitcases completely safe from rains and dirt. The bag was found highly useful. Please note that I used anti-skip roof-top mat also (purchased separately) beneath this bag to hold this bag in place and to avoid damage to my car's roof top paint getting scratched due to movement of bag at high-speeds. Also, don't forget to tighten the bag's belts to your car's side-rails properly, Also check the tightness of the belts whenever you halt during the journey and re-tighten them if necessary. If the belts become loose, your bag can be damaged due to movement of the luggage during the drive.
Excellent product. So much more convenient than tarpaulin+ropes+bungee cords. We did a 2000+ km drive on a Honda-BRV and it mostly didn't let us down.
Driving through light to moderate rain, contents were well protected and there was no dampness inside the bag. But during a particularly heavy spell, some water entered the bag, probably through the zippers, my inexperience also might be to blame. Thereafter, I was very careful to ensure that the flaps covering the zippers were properly folded down and velcroed.
Note: This bag must be placed on top of a roofcarrier only (and not directly on the roof). Sheet metal of most car roofs will buckle under load.
I used this on a 3000 kms long road trip in April 2018 along the western coastline. We traveled from Pune - Goa - Malpe - Mangalore - Coorg - Wayanad - Coimbatore - Mysore - Bangalore - Hubli - Pune in Ertiga with a roofcarrier and all the luggage (3 large bags, 1 90 ltrs rucksack, camping tents, sleeping bags) was in the carrier bag through the 13 days long trip. The bag held snugly to the carrier, with ergonomically designed straps, no issue on that front with unexpected slipping or movement. It handled the weather extremities quite well. We drove through rain, thundershower, scorching sun, fog. Experienced no trouble at all. [Edit] After eight months and two more trips (4k kms), my reliance of this wonderful bag is deepened and I highly recommend to those who have the wanderlust in them. I have answered many questions pertaining to the use, summarized as below. a) The bag can be used on any car with either roof rails or rack installed on it. b) It is advisable to use a rack/carrier system. Do not place heavy loads directly on the car roof. c) The straps are strong and the buckles hold hard. They can be cinch tightened so that undesirable slipping or movement is restricted. d) Whenever loading, try to load as flat as possible. The bag adds approximately 12-15 inches to your car, plus a couple of additional inches of the rack/carrier system. Extra height may shift the center of gravity. So be careful.
Just too good It is water proof and it is easy to attach I use it for my wagon R cng and i bought this bcz i dint like carrier and also bcz it good be used in rain Overall a great product for cars with roof rails
I have an 7 seater SUV and travel quite a bit, however till now the max complement of people that travel in my car were not more than 5 people, hence never needed a carrier for luggage. However, recently I had the need to travel with 7 occupants and their luggage for a period of 5 days. To do so I would've had to invest in a luggage carrier and fit it on my SUV, but I was not keen on doing so as after the trip I would remove the carrier and will need to store the same, for which I don't have space in my house. Enter the Amazon Basics Rooftop Car Carrier Bag, and I am blessed. This amazing carrier bag comes in a very small tote bag (no bigger than a 5 litre water can) which can be easily stored in the boot of your car. But when opened the real magic starts, it is big enough to hold 3 - 4 mid sized suitcases and a couple of duffle bags. The straps on this bag can be strapped to your car's roof rails and tightened ensuring that your luggage stays in it's place. Being waterproof, it ensures that your luggage doesn't get wet even in heavy rains. Only problem is that it fits only cars with roof rails that too the ones which have gap between the roof and the rail for the straps to be fitted. Important Note: This cannot be installed on cars which don't have roof rails.
Decent size and fits well using roof rails but car roof got dented at several places even in 200 km drive on a smooth road with a few rumbler strips used at toll plaza on yhe way. Not recommended to use without a thick mattress underneath or on top of metallic luggage carrier. Three cabin baggage size suitcases and few backpacks fitted well. Denting of Creta roof has left bad experience of using this. Willbe cautious in using this next time. Does help in creating lot of free space in car.
Since I installed roof rail carrier in my Ertiga, thought of having a product which would be easy cover the luggage . This is a perfect cover. Need little patience to fit it tight , but once fixed we need not worry about the climatic change during the trip. I used it during heavy rain and there were no single drop got inside the cover. Quality is also premium. You get a carry case, which fits the cover compact when not in use.
If you have a luggage carrier, or roof mounts, and need to haul family luggage without compromising on internal space of your car - This is what you need. The quality is impressive, and the overall fit and finish is commendable considering the price at which it was purchased. The product is water proof and weather proof, and will ensure your luggage remain clean and dry. I am very happy with the purchase.
Definitely value for money. Initially when I went through the details of the product, I was skeptical on whether I should choose this product but when I used it, the product exceeded my expectations. We used it to tie the luggage on my Wagon-R, it didnt have a roof-top carrier but just the side bars. Went to my native and back home with all the luggages and bags tied using this bag and the product stood firm on my entire 1,400 kms long drive and I even went in top speeds of 120 and 130kmph to test the strength and it did well.
Recently I did 500 KM journey with Rooftop bag. Did not find any problem. Look wise its much better compare to loading bags on your roof top carrier, straps are strong enough to hold the bag even at the speed of 140 KM/HR.
