When I read about a recent top 10 graphic books list and saw this as no 1, I was immediately interested. The cover page illustration looked so good. And the chance to go over Anne's Diary in an illustrated form all over again and relive her life in captivity at one of history's most poignant and black times was irresistible.
This graphic adaptation (first authorized one) is truly among the best I have seen and I enjoyed it hugely. The imagery, illustrations, condensing many passages into graphical metaphors is just brilliant! The authors have thoughtfully retained and reproduced certain later passages in full which represent Anne's evolved writing. The illustrations are stunning. All credit to the very talented and brilliant David Polonsky
Ideally you should read the original and this one to soak it all in. But this one on its own is just as good.
