To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The laptop is absolute masterclass for a guy who is into programming. The MacOs gives you a Linux like feel that is very important to master for begginer programmer and experts alike. Good battery. Solid 7-8 hours. But where it really takes a beating is the value for money segment.(especially india) With God only knows where our tax money goes system, this product is taxed almost 60,000 more than what it is sold in US. For a cash conscious country like us, where even the rich are careful on spending, this laptop has zero value for money.
I use macbook as it is required by my company for running a few softwares and iOS based mobile applications. I hate apple as it wants vendor lock-in. You cannot use apple products without purchasing Apple Care and that means extra money for Apple. This macbook does not have a USB port and I can't use my wireless mouse directly and have to rely on USB adapter. Apple wants you to buy its magic mouse which is priced at 7500 INR. This product is definitely not value for money as it is heavily taxed in India. You get the same macbook in US or outside India in 165000 INR. The only thing Apple is interested in is Money !!!!
Item was received in original packaging without any issues. I went for the silver because it was cheaper than the space grey. The Apple resellers in my city only had the space grey for display so I bought the silver sight unseen, although I did have a silver 13 inch MacBook Pro earlier. However, after receiving the product, I personally feel the silver looks much better than the space grey which simply looks dirty. Battery life can drain faster if the discrete GPU is running otherwise it gives ample battery throughout the day.
I'm Fullstack web and mobile developer and mainly i'm going to use(or using currently) this laptop for iPhone/Android and web development. I bought before 2 days and till now the experience is awesome, earlier i was using 2012 macbook pro 13 inch, 4GB RAM, 512 HDD, i5 2nd generation and iPhone simulator was taking almost 25 minute to start well in new laptop that is this product i7 8th generation, 16 GB RAM, 256 SSD is taking only 1.5 to 2 minutes (Approx). well i will write review after six month of use later again. (since i'm not native english speaker, forgive me if you found any grammer errors)
Beware, it's a 16 GB RAM with 512 GB SSD which can not be upgraded, unlike old MacBooks. This is the big downside, they didn't even mention it clearly in the product description... and if you check the advertisement mention below the product, it says 16 GB, 32 GB etc. where when I called apple sales, they refused 32gb is not available in India yet also the one I have is not upgradable. By simply looking at those ads, someone would assume that it might be expandable to 32 Gb; unfortunately, it's not!
This is very cunning tactics by Apple to make their products go obsolete after a few years and then you will have to buy and another one, as you can't upgrade it.
I own Dell XPS 15(I7 (7th Generation) with 16GB and MacBook Pro (I7 (8th Generation) with 16gb.
Pros of Macbook pro 1. Design 2. Quality of the screen 3. OSX 4. User experience 5. I would advice to upgrade to 32 GB ram, if are using for Machine Learning
I purchased it from Croma. Excellent product. However, two things to consider: 1. Apple increased the official price of this model(also increased price of all other models) from Rs 231900 to Rs 264900 mainly because of downfall of Rupee. 2. This above model was launched just 2 months back and surprisingly now Apple has again upgraded the GPU and released newer model with significantly faster Vega 16 and 20 GPUs with much higher price tag only to make the two months old "brand new refreshed macbook" model look like a last gen model.
