I'd like to recommend exercises after each chapter, and at the end of book to help the reader know of he/she can actually say no in some situations.
Once we have analyzed that there exists the problem, author takes you on a journey where he gives all the practical tips on how to overcome the habit of saying "Yes". Personal examples of Damon helps to understand the situation pretty well. The bonus part is where he explains how to say no in courteous manner to every aspect of life situations, ranging from relatives to spouse to coworkers.
The fine line book has maintained is that, book is not arguing that one should never help people, but keep your self care ahead of others care. The tips provided by the author are pragmatic and practical to implement in day to day life.
The drawbacks I found in the whole text was over repeatition of the name of book and what it is going to offer. There are some examples which have been repeated throughout the text, which decreases the overall quality.
I have already used some tips and it has not only increased the productivity but brought more calmness in the life. Strongly recommended for people who without their knowledge become people pleaser.
I know it's the Crux of of it. But it needs more detailing. It hinges on single corporate life with neighbors ..typical one scenario .It can't convey other lifestyles . People are doing jobs and living life where it's very stressful to say NO.
Once you open this book you never wanted to keep it down till it’s completed. The main reason I find is in it’s simple and straight forward presentation of facts and the suggested remedial measures. After reading this book, I analysed myself to find out where I stand and to amend my character/actions if need be.
I conclude that, art of saying NO is one of the prerequisite for Art of living.
