Review
“Quinn is incomparable! The latest addition to her beloved Bridgerton series is funny, charming, witty and wildly romantic. This is Regency romance at its best, with strong characters, fast-paced action and lots of drama between two unlikely sweethearts destined for each other.” (RT Book Reviews (top pick) on BECAUSE OF MISS BRIDGERTON)
“Like an episode of Downtown Abbey mixed with a great rom-com.” (iBooks Best Books of March on BECAUSE OF MISS BRIDGERTON)

“Julia Quinn is one of the best historical romance novelists of our time.” (Heroes and Heartbreakers on BECAUSE OF MISS BRIDGERTON)
From the Back Cover
Sometimes you find love in the most unexpected of places...
This is not one of those times.
Everyone expects Billie Bridgerton to marry one of the Rokesby brothers. The two families have been neighbors for centuries, and as a child the tomboyish Billie ran wild with Edward and Andrew. Either one would make a perfect husband... someday.
Sometimes you fall in love with exactly the person you think you should...
Or not.
There is only one Rokesby Billie absolutely cannot tolerate, and that is George. He may be the eldest and heir to the earldom, but he's arrogant, annoying, and she's absolutely certain he detests her. Which is perfectly convenient, as she can't stand the sight of him, either.
But sometimes fate has a wicked sense of humor...
Because when Billie and George are quite literally thrown together, a whole new sort of sparks begins to fly. And when these lifelong adversaries finally kiss, they just might discover that the one person they can't abide is the one person they can't live without...

Another entertaining romance from Quinn, with lots of light repartee and good chemistry between the characters. Billie and George complement each other well and make a good pairing. I also liked Andrew, who perhaps might be a lead character in a later book in the series.
The story was perhaps a little light on plot. I liked the parts that explored George's feelings about not being able to fight for his country like his brothers, however, I thought the bits in London when he gets entangled with the war office were rather silly. Also the entire part set in London just seemed rather too brisk and a bit jarring.
Overall another easy and enjoyable read from Quinn, and I look forward to the rest in the series.

I found the book rather uneven. The dialogue between the 2 main characters did not ring true, especially at first. I could not really believe in the move from near sibling bickering to aspiring suitor in love. The story becomes more convincing when it moves to London, although the forays into espionage seem somewhat artificial and irrelevant. I see the other books in the prequel series deal with the other sons, Andrew, Edward and Nicholas, but I am not sure whether I shall continue reading this series as the reviews I've read express many reservations not unlike mine.
