These are the cookies my mother and aunts made when I was growing up, and I was so happy to see the original book reprinted so that I could keep up the traditions! The recipes are easy to understand, easy to execute, and the cookies are fabulous. Nothing super fancy like those books that have techniques that are meant to dazzle visually instead of deliver on taste -- these cookies are simple and timeless and are loved by all tastebuds. A really great gift for yourself or someone else!
We received our first copy of this 40 years ago as a wedding shower gift from our Best Man. It was so much used by now that the pages were falling out and some were lost. I purchased another copy and was so excited to receive it. I especially like the Canadian shortbread made with oatmeal. Also, I now use Splenda in most recipes to replace the sugar.
Questo libro è perfetto per chi ama i biscotti in stile americano. E' scritto in inglese con le dosi in cup e teaspoon, ma facili da seguire e queste unità di misura si trovano in commercio anche da noi. Consigliato a chi ama fare biscotti.
I found this book cool. I wanted different cookies to make but I was a little disappointed that it was basically the same cookies we make today. The book itself is nice and I like that they give you a little history of how some cookies came to be.
