I read everything Kathi writes and own most of them in my personal library. This book left me feeling a little flat, it was like all the characters were just going through the motions, no real warmth like I am used to. It might be that there was no romance in this book and the mystery involved people we have never met in previous books, so it was hard to care about them. I just can't put my finger on it, after finishing the book I felt that I was missing something that previous books had given me in moving the story of Shelby forward. Her sisters are mentioned, Abby and Georgia are mentioned, Dax and Colt are mentioned, as well a Lacey and Lonnie. But no real warmth in the interactions from those who do appear in some of the plotlines. I am hoping future books in this series improve the personal connections and relationships that move the main character forward in a positive way. I did like the mystery but I am not a fan of mysteries written in the first person.

I have been a long time reader of Kathi Daley and thoroughly enjoyed her books. Sadly this book doesn't measure up to my expectations. Too many characters and too many words repeating actions of the characters and too little plot. Why was the dog incident tossed in? Sorry to be negative but I know how enjoyable Kathi's books usually are. Looking forward to Kathi's next book.

This is book 3 in the Bistro series and each one is great entertainment. This is a cozy mystery and it takes place in Maine. The setting of New England is always a favorite of mine as I am from Massachusetts. The characters are delightful and the storyline is excellent. Good short read that keeps you coming back for each new book. Recommended for people who like light mysteries.
