Ryan T. Higgins was born in 1983. As a child, he lived on a diet of cartoons, cheese sandwiches, and climbing trees. Until he was four years old, Ryan wanted to grow up to be a tiger. When that didn't work out, he decided to become a cartoonist. He's been making his own cartoons ever since and hasn't grown up yet.

Ryan is the author and illustrator of the #1 New York Times best-selling We Don't Eat Our Classmates; the New York Times best-selling Mother Bruce, which received the E. B. White Read Aloud Award and the Ezra Jack Keats New Illustrator Honor; Hotel Bruce; BE QUIET!; Bruce's Big Move; and others. I own all of the Mother Bruce Series books; this is yet another masterpiece. I would actually buy these sight unseen - oh wait, I actually did; Mr. Higgins did not disappoint! All of my favorite woodland creatures are here - and some new ones. The subtle clues/hints are fun to discover; so, read the front inside covers, the back inside covers, the outside covers under the paper cover - there's fun everywhere! Mother Bruce is so long suffering and loving - even though he doesn't know it!

My grandson and I accidentally discovered this author when we went to a local park for a hike. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there was a "story trail" where the pages of one of the Bruce Bear books were displayed on signage along the trail. I was a little skeptical of the story line at first....a grouchy bear didn't sound like a great role model....but the author does a wonderful job of turning the entire story into a whimsical and humorous delight (and good role model after all)! We so thoroughly enjoyed the story that I came home and immediately ordered every "Bruce Bear" book in this series!!! They have not disappointed.....they are all delightful and we can't wait for the next one!

This is my PreKindergarten class’ favorite book. They ask for it every day. It arrived the day before Hurricane Dorian hit the N.C. coast and I had a chance to read it to them right before we had two hurricane days off from school. Our favorite lines in the book were when everyone was huddled in Bruce’s house and the tree fell on the house but Everyone was ok. My children smile at that part every single time.

The Bruce Books continue to be clever, heartfelt and well illustrated. This time Bruce is in a pickle as his woodland home is once again inundated with his neighbors. There is a big storm and they all need good shelter.....and that would be Bruce's cabin. But when some damage occurs Bruce finds that having helping neighbors isn't so back after all.

I like Bruce bear books. In this story, I thought close to the end, Bruce was finally getting the better end of the deal. Until I read where they built an extra room on to his house. Santa Bruce is my favorite. I laughed hysterically when reading Santa Bruce. This one isn't as funny. But I'm glad to have it in my collection.
