It is easy to setup. the screen IS NOT white and it IS NOT SILVER. it is beige. Color rendering is acceptable but I did not test it for long, just a few minutes trying to get rid of those patterns.
It is really light weigth for the size of the screen.and transportable. That's what interested me the first place.
1) I didn't think I had the right frame at first as the two set of poles did not match up. Fear not - gently pull the ends together - the slight tension keeps the frame very taught which is necessary to stretch the screen. The wrinkles disappear when it's tight.
2) The screen is slightly off white (very light cream). Over the long run this is probably OK as it will hide the inevitable dirt and marks better.
3) The screen is widescreen format so if your projector does not support this you will have extra "unused" screen on the sides.
4) The actual white portion of the screen is 45" x 79". Overall the dimensions are 59" x 93" (just under 5' x 8') - perfect for a 10' booth.
5) And it all fits into a bag that is 19.5 x 4.5 x 6.5 inches ... fits in a suitcase! (they say it weighs 5 lbs - I didn't check but that is about right)
It does NOT have legs, unless you buy them separately...which is obvious from the description, but confusing from the picture of a proud girl acting like an alligator trying to eat the screen with her arms, standing in front of the screen on LEGS!!!
But don't freak out when it shows up with no legs...it can easily be hung on just about anything.
Now, here are some interesting facts:
When assembled, the frame is not square. When the screen snaps on to the frame it really is quite sweet though. But don't expect the frame to be at all square.
The fabric is really not WHITE. Its kinda gray. Which is odd because.....
Rear Projection on this unit is not the best idea. Not impossible, that's how we are using them at a Mobile Church.
BUT....if there's even a fair amount of light, the rear projection is quite dark and difficult to see. Sure if you're using a projector in the light you probably need to rethink why you have a projector, but it's worth mentioning.
OVERALL: This is really a very cool design. Great for having a mobile screen. But unless you're gonna be in the dark, don't much expect to have a good clear bright image unless your projector is brighter than a solar flare.
So overall a great buy.
Once I opened the box, I pulled out the 20 x 8" black cinch nylon bag which holds the screen and frame inside. Inside the first bag is the screen neatly wrapped around a second bag that houses the super easy shock corded aluminum frame along with a smaller bag of hardware and straps for hanging.
1)Fast easy assembly.(The whole screen was out of the box and fully assembled in less then 5 minutes)
2)Breakdown is quick and easy too.
3)Very portable. (the screen and frame fit into a bag about 20"x8" and is very light)
4)Sturdy. (Once assembled and tightened the frame and screen stay very ridged)
5)The screen works with front or rear projection.
6)The screen has a very professional look.(Nice edges trimmed in black)
7)92" of viewing surface.(The overall dimensions of the frame are about 8' x 5')
8)Wonderful image transfer.(One of the guests that arrives after the movie was playing thought I had 92" plasma TV hanging in the yard)
1)There seems to be a slightly more vivid image on the front of the screen then the rear when using the screen for rear projection.
2)This screen can not stand alone.(It needs either the perfect spot to be hung or it will require a structure of some sore to hang it from.I built a portable frame from 1" PVC that worked out great in my yard)
Overall I am very pleased with the Camp Chef Outdoor Entertainment Gear OS92 Indoor/Outdoor Movie Theater ScreenI have already watched 3 movies in my yard and entertained 20, 11 year olds at my daughter's "Swim-in-Movie" birthday party. In addition to the screen I also purchased a LG HX300G 1024x768 XGA 270 Lumens Ultra-Mobile LED Projector 2000:1from Amazon that was the perfect portable projector to accompany the screen. I will be taking the whole package on our next camping trip and plan to have many more nights of outdoor family fun in our Backyard Movie Theater.
Good luck with your project!!!
Camp Chef sent us a complete new screen to fix the problem. When we first used it, we realized that it could be used for rear projection, also. So, for the first movie, half of us sat in front, and half in back. The movie was enjoyable front or back. We are extremely pleased with the screen. Extremely easy to set up and take down. Love it!
But... I recently needed to set up a screen for some kids that might not be treated well. I found a cheap white PVC shower curtain to use as a screen and it seems nearly as good. Not as durable but washable and could throw it away and buy a new one if it gets too worn out. Mounted the curtain using two clamps and a couple of bungee cords.
So if you need occasional outdoor screen use, consider that you might just want to use a shower curtain unless you need more size/durability.
All the manufacturer need to do was to use another 24" of webbing in making this otherwise nice screen for it to work properly. A few pennies saved, in this instance, sunk the ship. Very Well Made, which made the uselessness more frustrating.
Also, Please NOTE that the Legs Shown so prominently in the listing are Not Included
Assembly: Easy! The frame is two pieces and it assembles like tent poles. Once the poles are sprung into place & connected the screen attaches via tension hooks. The process took about 8mins. I spent more time dealing with the tension so it did not warp the frame than I did with actual assembly..
