When we last saw George and Harold, they were about to take their pet pterodactyl, Crackers, back to the Cretaceous period.
But things didn't work out quite as they had hoped. They've entered an absurd alternate reality where teachers are nice, kids are allowed to read banned books, and the cafeteria food doesn't smell like dirty diapers. Even worse, they've discovered alternate versions of themselves - Evil George and Evil Harold - who plan to unleash some preposterous plans on Piqua, Ohio.
Now it's up to George and Harold to defeat the evil twins and their superhero, Captain Blunderpants!

Great buy if you have a child who is getting into reading
Reviewed in India on 13 August 2020
This book is helpful for children who are getting into reading or for parents who want their children to read. before handing the something like the harry potter series or other middle grade novels start with this as these as these also provide a visual stimulus and make the story that much more interesting. the overall product quality is great my copy had a small dent but nothing much severe. the cover is awesome and eye catching and will be a treat for children to read, The bonus with this series is the inclusion of the so called "Flip-o-Rama" which will make sure the book never becomes boring. i started my reading hobby with this series when i was a kid and i am still drawn towards thee books

Captain Underpants is not a book or a series of books: It is in fact an obsession! The books in general have three principal characters- George, Harold (two mischievous boys with new tricks up their sleeves daily!) and their headmaster Mr. Krupp who is mean yet the victim of the boys' pranks!
The books are targeted for young readers ( 6yrs+ ) , BUT a word of caution : They shouldn land in the hands of these kids! :P The humor and language of the text is definitely not suitable for such young readers as it can be impressionable on young minds. However, adults or teens will thoroughly enjoy the jokes and wise cracks. The books in general do not have a very intelligent plot, they are simple almost bordering on stupid at times but then that makes them one of a kind. The titles of these books are also interesting: they are too lengthy to be true( you could decipher half the plot)!
Verdict: Do buy at least one to have a day of laughs (laffs) ! I couldn stop laughing while reading this book, it was total nonsensical and I loved the idea behind these books.

The Captain underpants colour edition is very interesting. However the book binding is low quality. The cover page is losely pasted with the book and comes off as soon as you open the book. Even the inside pages start coming apart in first read.
Gor a replacement once but even that had the same issue, along with other colour editions I had ordered.

A CHILDREN'S DELIGHT
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 3 January 2014Verified Purchase
Another in the children's (and many adults) favourite series of Captain Underpants highly amusing adventures in which `wedgie power' is used to overcome a veritable phalanx of comical super villains with the help of a motley and constantly changing cast of unlikely super heroes.
And why do kids absolutely love these books beyond most others? `Simple' as that annoying tv advert meerkat says repeatedly to the enrichment of the owners of an internet comparison site, because the jocularity is very basic majoring on `fart' humour, irreverent, fast moving, and one whole lot of fun.....just about everything that most kids lap up. Little wonder that killjoy groups such as The American Library Association features The Captain Underpants books very high up in their lists of books needed to be banned......goodness me we can't be having children actually reading books, and enjoying the experience - its better for them to continue watching television and computer screens and not read at all! Instead of castigating and poo-pooing (if you excuse the expression) the Captain and his knockabout friends and foes, plaudits by the bucket full should be showered over this series of books.
In this episode our valiant verging on flatulent hero, Captain Underpants returns to battle the evil Captain Blunderpants, with the help of two new superheroes, Great Granny Girdle and Boxer Boy resulting in yet another hilarious romp.
Highly recommended.

Good read for 7 year old
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 9 December 2017Verified Purchase
A thousand thumbs up!
My son is 7, moving to grade 3 in January and is a very good reader for his age. I want him to keep reading for fun so I purchase a good variety of books for him. It usually takes him a week or two to get through a 'home-read' because of his reading homework, but he read this book over a weekend. He completely followed the story and enjoyed the illustrations and the characters. I want to buy more in the series.

My 7 year old loved the first captain underpants in the series but this book even though we enjoyed the silliness and anarchy, he could not follow or grasp it and it’s concepts. A bit all over the place.

Boy's read
Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 12 September 2012Verified Purchase
As a parent, you might be put off by the "non-appropriate" language, the primitive illustrations and the absurd plot of the stories. But it seems to be just this absurdity which makes my son understand the dividing line between CU (live out your schoolboy fantasies) and real life (show your appropriate language and behaviour).
Since I am kindly refusing to read these half-comics to him, Captain Underpants have marked my son's entry point into truly independent reading.
Three stars in spite of everything. :)
