About the Author

Nelly Buchet is an actress, writer, and nonviolence advocate. A Dalai Lama Fellow, she created the Snow Lion Storytelling Initiative, a non-profit that translates and distributes children's books into Tibetan to Tibetan refugee children in orphanages and schools across India and Nepal. She was awarded the Quebec government's top award for next-generation leaders in social justice and has presented at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. Nelly was recently seen in the Emmy-winning HBO series, Big Little Lies. Cat Dog Dog is her debut picture book.

Andrea Zuill is the author-illustrator of Wolf Camp, a finalist for the Children's Choice Award. In a starred review, Kirkus said the book "will delight more than dog lovers." Sweety, her most recent book with Schwartz & Wade, publishes in March 2019. She is also the author-illustrator of Dance Is for Everyone and Marigold & Daisy. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in California, Texas, and New York, including the San Diego Museum of Art and the Brand Library gallery, where she won the Disney Imagineering Award. Nelly Buchet is the author of 2021 Irma Black Award winner and ALA Notable Book Cat Dog Dog: The Story of a Blended Family (Schwartz and Wade at Penguin Random House, 2020, with art by Andrea Zuill), a Junior Library Guild, 2021 CCBC "Best of the Year" List, Indie Next 2020 List, Amazon’s “Best of 2020 for ages 3-5,” Chicago Public Library “Best Fiction for Younger Readers of 2020” and Iowa Public Radio “Best New Books for Children and Teens” selection. Kirkus Reviews gives it a star and Shelf Awareness calls it a "picture book magnum opus." She is also the author of the upcoming Can’t Do! board book series (Bonnier Books UK, 2021, with art by Pau Morgan) and four new picture books, including How to Train Your Pet Brain (Beaming Books, 2022, with art by Amy Jindra).

Born in Paris, Nelly studied philosophy at McGill University, where she created a nonprofit project that brings picture books to refugee children in orphanages and libraries. For her work she was awarded a Dalai Lama Fellowship and Quebec’s most generous grant recognizing youth entrepreneurship and social justice. She has taught nonviolent conflict resolution in schools and spoken at the Bologna International Book Fair.
