This book by Tren Griffin is awesome. It gives a good profile of Charlie Munger and his investment philosophy. It stresses the importance to have a good understanding of various disciplines like psychology, strategy, finance economics, etc. However, don't order from Shroff Publishers Direct. The book was not in a good condition, its hardcover was smelling and had a lot of dust accumulated on it. One possibility is that the seller might have procured it long ago and didn't maintain it. If one is paying Rs1245 for a book, one at least expects that the book be in a good condition.

This is a forged copy and over priced. I bought the hardcover version of the book and got a paperback version with very bad printing quality. Don't buy from this seller. However the book is very good.

The chapter on human biases and misjudgements is worth the whole book. Good collection of Munger’s thinking on various aspects of investing. Enjoyed reading it!

Simple principles and no nonsense

In this short book (192 pages) Tren Griffin gives us a selection of well-chosen quotes from which we can built up a picture of Charlie Munger the man and Charlie Munger the Investor - not that there's much difference between the two.
The great charm of Charlie Munger is his simple, no frills approach. He doesn't like 'twaddle' and he doesn't mince his words and he doesn't let emotions get in the way of decision making. It's ok, he says, to make mistakes, so long as you learn from them and don't repeat them. If an investing opportunity seems too complex, he shelves it and looks for an easier one. In his view it is better to have 'focused' portfolios - say ten good shares, rather than a hundred mediocre ones.
Some of the best quotes from Munger are the shortest:
'Our biggest mistakes were the things we didn't do, companies we didn't buy.'
'Terribly smart people make totally bonkers mistakes.'
'The idea of a margin of safety, a Graham precept, will never be obsolete.'
This book could perhaps have been a little longer and maybe analysed some of Charlie Munger's deals and given us a little more biography. But for any students of investing who want a quick insight into the mind of one of the greatest investors of all time, this book is first class and strongly recommended.

Some Very Good Advice.

Very good, interesting book. However, it gives a general overview of investing and doesn’t give much technical insight.
It does give very good insights into Charlie Munger’s mind, and some excellent quotes from both Munger and Warren Buffett.

I thought I had red some good investment books, but this is quite outstanding. Still, as Buffet's No 2 man, thats not surprising.

I cannot find Charlie's almanack, so decided to read this instead, excellent read and although is not as comprehensive as Charlie's almanack, it's a compendium of quotations analyzed by the author and clarified where needed; enjoyed reading it very much.
