Many of her readers love her many marriage of convenience stories. Her lighter books have been compared to Georgette Heyer and Julia Quinn, and her more emotional reads (where the heroine has many obstacles before her happy ending) have been compared to Mary Balogh.

Many of her articles can found on her website, www.CherylBolen.com, and more recent ones on her blog, www.CherylsRegencyRamblings.wordpress.com. Readers are welcomed at both places.
Cheryl holds a dual degree in English and journalism from the University of Texas, and she earned a master's degree from the University of Houston. She and her professor husband are the parents of two sons, one who is an attorney, and the other a journalist. Her favorite things to do are watching the UT Longhorns, traveling to England, and reading about dead English women.

Anna de Mouchet has the stuff of which Regency heroines are made – the right stuff, that is! – In Print
***
Manipulated into a marriage of convenience to prove their patriotism, Anna and Charles, the Marquess of Haverstock, question each other's loyalties. But there's no question that Anna's silken touch has bewitched the powerful lord who has become her husband, and no question that she craves every moment in his arms.
EXCERPT:
Her eyes widened for a hint of a second, then she moved to the edge of the bed, blew out the candle, and began to unbutton her gown.
"I want the candle lighted," he said harshly. "I am your husband, and I want to see what I'm getting." He scooped up the candle, strolled to the fireplace, and relit the wick from the flames. Walking slowly back to her bed, he watched her lift the gown over her head, then clutch the coverlet to hide her breasts, her face flaming.
He set the candle on the marble top of her bedside table and leaned over her, lifting her chin with his finger. "I cannot believe the former Miss De Mouchet blushes over the prospect of displaying her lovely body."
"It is just. . ." Anna whispered, "I did not know this act was performed . . .without clothing?"
His laughter shook the room. "Yes, my dear, we shall perform the act totally naked. I pity your former lovers if they were denied the pleasure of your entire body." His hand moved from her chin, down the slope of her chest, where he flicked off the covering and cupped a full breast while his thumb plied her nipple.
"There have been no lovers, my lord," she said in a shaky voice.
He removed his hand and met her bewildered gaze. "Do you mean to tell me you're a virgin?"
All he saw were her huge, brown eyes staring at him like a frightened doe as she nodded.
"So you say. There are ways a man can tell if a woman has been with a man."
She lifted her chin and spoke in a voice now devoid of shakiness. "I'm very happy to learn that. Then I will be exonerated of at least one odious deed."
"Oh, but my dear," he said, sitting beside her on the bed and stroking her breast, "there is nothing at all odious about the deed."
After patiently waiting six years for her bridegroom, Miss Lucy Beresford finally comes to London to force him to the altar. But when she arrives, her prospective husband is nowhere to be found. Lucy then enlists the services of her betrothed’s closest friend, Lord Montague, to help find her missing fiancé.
Monty doesn’t like to let on how worried he is about his absent friend, especially to the man’s fragile fiancée. Nevertheless, he consents to help the lady in her quest to find the man she’s betrothed to. The more time Monty spends with this lady, the more he realizes his friend was a fool not to marry her, and the more he realizes the shy persona Miss Lucy Beresford reveals to others conceals a woman of vast appeal.
Their search—and the subsequent investigation, which takes them across England and to the highest levels of government—places them in danger and makes Monty vow to do everything in his power to protect his friend’s future wife.

EXCERPT:
While waiting for James's tub to fill, Carlotta knelt at his feet and assisted him in removing his muddied boots.
"Never mind me," he said. "I daresay Mannington can manage. You'll need to remove the soot and mud from your own self."
She met his gaze and spoke throatily. "I wish to send Mannington away."
Now he understood. As exhausted as he was, he understood and his body feebly responded to the velvet tone of her seductive voice.
Mannington stepped from the dressing room with clean clothing for his master.
"I shan't need you any more tonight, Mannington," James said, his eyes never leaving Carlotta's.
"Very good, sir," the valet answered flatly as he set the clothing on James's bed then turned on his heel and departed.
With the firelight as a backdrop, James watched the footmen pour the last kettles of water into the tub, then leave the bed chamber.
Watching her husband with smoldering eyes, Carlotta reached for his buttons. James drew in his breath. She began to unfasten them, one by one. When she was finished, she lay her hand over the hair that matted on his chest. "So white there compared to here," she whispered as her hand reached to stroke his blackened face.
His breathing grew more harsh, his mind and heart shaken to their depths by her gentleness--and his ever-swelling love for her.
Slowly, she removed the shirt from him. "Shall we stand?" she whispered.
James answered her without words, pulling her up with him. Her hands slipped to the bare skin beneath his breeches, and she gave them a tug. "I shall require your assistance in removing these, my darling."
My darling? Good God in heaven! He was beginning to believe his wife had, indeed, fallen in love with him.
