Wow what an amazing book, my passion is cooking & eating & this fabulous book brings out the best of both. I’ve made most of the recipes so far and learnt so much in doing so.
There are great sections on, spices & pulse types & a really useful American/English glossary. This is such a well thought out cooks cookbook.
The best part was when I came home from a big day at work to find my wife had made me an amazing surprise meal using two of the recipes! Thank you Chetna for an amazing book & insight into Vegetarian Indian Cooking.
The wonderful chetna makan! Fantastic book it’s a 10/10 book highly recommended you have to try her fabulous easy and delicious recipes this book is great as the rest of chetna books. Indian vegetarian that you want to cook again and again wonderful hard work chetna with this great book our family is enjoying daily your lovely recipes. 5 stars 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟
All too often I have bought a vegetarian cookbook with the hope that a lot of the recipes may be vegan but in fact very few ever are vegan, a lot of the recipes contain ghee, and though you can often use oil instead the taste is never quite the same! There are a lot of recipes in the book that also contain nuts so not suitable for those of us that have a nut allergy!
I wish Chetna would bring out a completely vegan cookbook.
I guess I should have learnt my lesson by now! I did learn one thing though from watching a video she made where she uses a book called “Rebel Recipes“ the curry looked lovely and of course 100% vegan and healthy, so I bought that book (Rebel Recipes) it arrived and plan to make a couple of recipes this week!
I am sure if you are vegetarian, you will find lots to recipes in here that you can really enjoy, but being vegan myself, disappointed!
I saw this book mentioned by Nadiya Hussain and bought it for my daughter who loves vegetarian food. As she is now back home since lockdown she is steadily working her way through this amazing book of colourful and tasty food. Husband loves a meat dish especially a meat curry but he is loving everything produced from this book.
Having great success on my introduction to cooking Indian food with this book. Ever recipe has a picture ... which tempts me to try it out. I have cooked a number of recipes and each was good, if not excellent. Too, there is good variety. You will need access to a store with basic Indian spices but this list is not over the top. Very occasionally I come across an ingredient I cannot get and I just leave it out. The index is sometimes not useful but flicking through the pages always gives me an idea. Chetna gives storage advice for the recipes which is limited to the refrigeration. I would have really like to know about freezing - then I could double recipes. SO PLEASED with this book and will use it time and time again.
This cookbook is filled with incredible recipes. I made 6 recipes within the last two days and each one has been a huge crowd pleaser. Beautiful flavours and really delicious. She has made my meat eating family not miss meat at all! Big fan of Chetna on bake off and on YouTube, she's all round lovely and an excellent person to learn cooking from. Will definitely be reccomeding this book to all my friends and family.
