About the Author
New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas graduated from Wellesley College with a political science degree. She’s a RITA award-winning author of both historical romance and contemporary women’s fiction. She lives in Washington State with her husband Gregory and their two children.
Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals, press releases, articles, and computer code, but something was always missing. When she read a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She’s been writing about them ever since. Her novels have been recognized with numerous industry awards and appeared on the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists.
Megan Frampton writes historical romance under her own name and romantic women’s fiction as Megan Caldwell. She likes the color black, gin, dark-haired British men, and huge earrings, not in that order. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband and kid.
USA Today bestselling author, VIVIENNE LORRET transforms copious amounts of tea into words. She is an Avon author of works including: The Wallflower Wedding Series, The Rakes of Fallow Hall Series, The Season’s Original Series, and the Misadventures in Matchmaking series. alle bisherigen Geschichten haben ihre mehr oder weniger großen Macken, sei es Rechtschreibung, Zeichensetzung (ich hatte noch nie solche Probleme wie da, wo einfach mal so gut wie alle Kommata in höchst komplex verknoteten Sätzen gefehlt haben) oder einfach nur die Geschichte an sich, die weder der Zeit entsprechend noch gut geschrieben, spannend oder auch nur interessant ist.
Seufz.
So wie es aussieht, werde ich das Buch zurückgeben.

I Will by Lisa Kleypas - 3 stars
Part of her Capitol Theatre series, we see the couple of book 2 in this and they’re related to the hero in this. Romance was a bit lacking for me, we are told they fall in love but don’t get to see why/how this happened or any of their interactions really. Hero’s dad disinherited him because he just gambles, drinks excessively, and skirt-chases. He wants to get that reinstated so wants to prove he’s changed by having the heroine pretend to be into him (she’s a spinster and his friend’s sister). But he starts to change for real while pretending. He cleans her spectacles often for her, her brother handcuffs the hero to a bed for her at one point.
Deck the Halls with Love by Lorraine Heath - 4 stars
Part of her Lost Lords of Pembrook series, second chance romance where the couple gets caught in a winter storm and seek refuge together in an abandoned castle. Loved this one and lots of wintery activities including ice skating on a frozen pond and a Christmas ball.
No Groom at the Inn by Megan Frampton - 2.5 stars
Class difference romance, fake fiancée. Hero says he’s betrothed to appease his mother and proposes to the first woman he sees. The heroine agrees to be his fake fiancée at a country Christmas 2-week house party. Hero I didn’t like at all, heroine and his mom were great.
The Duke’s Christmas Wish by Vivienne Lorret - 2 stars
I don’t even know what this was, it felt so boring. Heroine is at the hero’s castle and he’s an inventor/scientist/mathematician working on a fellowship. Very abrupt ending.

I Will by Lisa Kleypas
(Capital Theatre 2.5) Setting: London, 1833. To avoid being written out of his dying father's will, Andrew, Lord Drake, needs to court a morally upright woman and reform his profligate ways. The only one he knows who might be persuaded is Miss Caroline Hargreaves, the spinster older sister of one of his friends. Andrew certainly never expected to feel sexually attracted to her. Caro agrees after Andrew agrees to pay off her brother's debts, equally shocked by her attraction to the man after he cleans up his act.
Starts as a sweet fake engagement, quickly building into a fiery hot encounter containing manacles. Also has a smidgen of DANGEROUS LIAISONS in regard to Andrew's past actions. While I'm not convinced that the two main men are changed as much as the author would like us to believe, it was an enjoyable look at Andrew's much deserved HEA. 3.5 out of 5.
Deck the Halls with Love by Lorraine Heath
(Lost Lords of Pembrook 2.5) Setting: Yorkshire, 1858. Lady Meredith Hargreaves had been attracted to Alistair Wakefield, the Marquess of Chetwyn, only to be hurt when he asked another woman to marry him. Now that the engagement is over, he is ready to follow his heart to marry Meredith. However, there is one obstacle he will need to overcome, she is engaged to Lord Litton and will be married after Christmas.
A lovely story of star-crossed lovers caught up in unfortunate mistakes. A late-night encounter in the billiards room kicks the heat up between Merry and Alistair, but ultimately it is his willingness to let her make her own choices that makes him a true hero. 3.5 out of 5.
No Groom at the Inn by Megan Frampton
(Dukes Behaving Badly 2.5) Setting: Unspecified town in England, 1844. To avoid his well-meaning mother’s matchmaking attempts at a holiday house party, James Archer rashly claims to be already betrothed. He finds penniless Lady Sophronia Bettesford at a nearby posting inn and asks her to pretend to be his fiancée. After Jamie agrees to buy her a cottage to live in after the masquerade is over, Sophronia agrees. But as they get to know each other better, the charade becomes more real.
There is a great love of language in this delightful tale. I loved the word definition quizzes that appear before each chapter, based on the Dictionary game that Sophronia and her father used to play. Which makes it peculiar that she wouldn’t recognize the word “hieroglyphics”. Or some of the other words that Jamie uses later in the story. (Trust me, I was the child who read the World Book Encyclopedia, the World Atlas, and much of the Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.) Jamie and Sophy are the most delightful couple. Both quickly realize that they want more, something special to remember once back to their everyday lives. And he isn’t titled! 4 out of 5.
The Duke’s Christmas Wish by Vivienne Lorret
Setting: Hertfordshire, year not given. Ivy Sutherland accompanies her friend, Lilah Appleton, and Lilah’s aunt to the Vale house party. She is determined to find a husband that not only meets Lilah’s late father’s will requirements but will love her as well. She sets her sights on the Duke of Vale. Northcliff Bromley, the Duke of Vale, has no interest in love. All he wants to do is prove his Marriage Formula to the Royal Society visitors to obtain a Fellowship. Yet Ivy and North are strangely affected when the other is in sight.
Unusual characters. Started interestingly enough to begin with. However, I quickly found myself losing interest about a third of the way through the story. I honestly failed to finish it, even to find out how they managed to hook up. DNF
