Claire Savage is a copywriter, journalist and author from the north coast of Northern Ireland - a wild and rugged part of the world full of folklore and magical landscapes. All of this inspires Claire daily in her writing, as she walks the coastline with her cocker spaniel, Reuben.

Claire published her debut middle-grade novel, Magical Masquerade, in April 2017, launching it at the Belfast Book Festival 2017. It also featured in the SBOOKY Book Festival 2017 in Derry, and in the Dublin Book Festival 2017. Having received a General Arts Award from the Arts Council NI's National Lottery fund in November 2017, this helped her draft book two and further assisted Claire in creating a support structure for book one.

Claire launched her second middle-grade novel - Phantom Phantasia - which is the sequel to Magical Masquerade, on October 4, 2018 at the Portrush Coastal Zone.

Claire's third middle-grade novel, The Story Forest, launched in February 2021 and in November 2020 she launched a collection of Christmas short stories from Northern Irish writers (Underneath the Tree), which she co-edited with Kelly Creighton.

In September 2016 Claire was chosen by Lagan Online as one of their 12NOW (New Original Writers) for 2016-17. In July 2014, she was also previously awarded a National Lottery grant from the Arts Council NI as part of their Support for Individual Artists Programme. This supported Claire in writing a collection of short stories and a collection of poetry.

Some of these stories have been published in literary journals, including The Lonely Crowd and The Incubator, along with SHIFT Lit - Derry writing magazine, The Launchpad journal (for children) and The Ghastling.

Claire’s poetry has also been published in journals including Abridged, the Community Arts Partnership (CAP) poetry anthologies (2014/15), the Co Derry Post newspaper and poetry e-zine, A New Ulster.

Claire loves reading and writing, but is also very fond of baking (chocolate cakes in particular), playing the violin, and daydreaming ...
