3.0 out of 5 stars Average book.
By B. on 21 September 2020

This is a nonfiction book where the author gives few advices about how to be "an ideal man".

The author spent her time on a coffee shop and made her observations on the people who visited the same coffee shop.

This book was all over the place. First the good things about this book. There were actually some good advices in this book like
-the man needs to look presentable because his looks tells us about his habits and hygiene.
-a man who does chores makes him loved by all the women in his life
-humility is an essential trait
-being adaptive is the only secret to transform, survive, and succeed
-a caring tender heart filled with love is a powerful trait in a man, giving the loved ones their time and attention is essential
-caring about the environment and sustainability

(These were nice advices but I think these applies to man and woman equally)

Now the bad parts.
-poor editing, spelling mistakes
-she sat in the cafe and observed people from far away and assumed that they must be doing this and doing that, thinking this and thinking that. She didn't even talk to those people, but yet told all the advices assuming what they were thinking or doing. She was eavesdropping and assuming, this didn't feel right.
-so the author focuses a lot on the man looking presentable and wearing good clothes. Then towards the end she full on started marketing and promoting her husband's brand of male clothing. That was just weird.

Overall it was an an average "self help" book. You can read it if you want because it is a very short book.

4.0 out of 5 stars There is more to a man than how he appears!
By Livre_monde on 19 September 2020
How many times have we judged a man by his outer appearance? It's true that a man makes his first impression through his looks, through the clothes he wears, through the car/bike he rides, etc. But is that all that defines him? Well, you know the answer already!

In this book, the author has touched upon the basics of the qualities that truly define a man beyond his outer appearance. But what truly makes this book different is the way the message has been presented. The author has tried to pen down her observation about different men she observed while sitting in a coffee shop and has tried to build short stories around it which makes the book interesting beyond a self-help book. Each chapter has a short story followed by a quick checklist summarising the takeaways from the chapter listing down the qualities a man should possess or focus upon. So, if you are in a hurry, you can just refer to the checklist.

This book is a reminder that there is more to a man than how he appears. Anyone looking for self-personality development shall read this book, regardless of whether you are a man or woman. The majority of the points written in this book are applicable to both genders.

My rating- 3.8/5⭐
