Oh I'm glad that I ordered this book..... It's has everything thing that an beginner artist has to know about sketching... The book is really nice... And fat too..and I got it for a great deal... I recommend this book for every single beginner artist out there
No in-depth discussion available. It is good only for revision purposes, for a beginner this book will not lead anywhere when it comes yo human scale, basics, proportions and detailing. Its more pf an over view for-exam preparations.
This book is a good guide to any budding artist, or anyone wishing to improve their own drawing skills. A good range of techniques and related exercises are suggested. It is hard to see how anyone with an interest in drawing would not benefit from the practice of these. One of the features is the authors ability to relate to known artists and how they used certain techniques and methods to great effect. As a result not only does the reader have the opportunity to improve their drawing skills, but they will also gain a deeper appreciation of the use of these skills by great artists throughout history.
The packaging for this was enourmous. Also the book is alot thicker and heavier than i expected. As i was planning on taking the book with me and draw when im out in nature. I cannot easily do that. However, there is lots of information and techniques within the book. Definetly worth the money. The book is exactly how it says in the description.
I have started drawing at 63 because my grandchildren want me to help them draw. I was always hopeless at art at school and now I realise it's because we were never taught any techniques (back in the good old 60s!) I will never be a great artist (or even a good one!) but I am staggered to find I can now draw passable animals, flowers etc and am enjoying helping my grandchildren to discover their own abilities with some of the techniques from this book. So it's certainly worked for me and worth every penny.
The book arrived quickly and although pre-owned, was in excellent condition. I have only just started to work through it but I think it will help my drawing skills enormously. Obviously, I'm anxious to move on to the more interesting stuff, but I think the early exercises will be invaluable in teaching how to actually draw the "more interesting stuff" and while I don't possess the degree of technical knowledge of some of the other reviewers, I am, nevertheless, very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it.
This book was picked so my grandson who could not draw a line, could follow some instructions for a school project Drawing Romans and their towns. I know it sounds complicated but the effort put in which look great, they look like Romans With big swords. We are very pleased with his results .
I bought for a friend who never learnt to draw and struggled how and where to start things. This is a great book what nicly and correctly guide you your art journey! Evencould be useful someone who learnt to draw- never bad a little repeat! But great start for begginers too! Useful!
Carefully chosen exercises to learn and develop techniques and skills. To get the most out of this book you need to do the practice suggested. Interspersed with words of wisdom about correcting mistakes and finding what you love. I really enjoyed working through the book.
I learn something new every time I read this book and reference certain subjects, it's great for beginners and is a good way to just refresh and get the best from your art... The book has lots of advice but also gives you some reference and understanding about how stlyes differ between artists, but ultimately this book helps you create what you want to draw, and find your own style .. I would definitely recommend..
