The Concise Mastery (The Modern Machiavellian Robert Greene) Kindle Edition
'Machiavelli has a new rival, and Sun-tzu had better watch his back' New York Times
The perfect pocketbook gift for the power-hungry - from the modern Machiavelli Robert Greene, international bestselling sensation author of The 48 Laws of Power, The Art of Seduction and The 33 Strategies of War. This concise version of the business classic Mastery provides a shortcut to Greene's powerful new tools for achieving greatness. Around the globe, people are facing the same problem - that we are born as individuals but are forced to conform to the rules of society if we want to succeed. To see our uniqueness expressed in our achievements, we must first learn the rules - and then change them completely.
Charles Darwin began as an underachieving schoolboy, Leonardo da Vinci as an illegitimate outcast. The secret of their eventual greatness lies in a 'rigorous apprenticeship': they learnt to master the 'hidden codes' which determine ultimate success or failure. Then, they rewrote the rules as a reflection of their own individuality.
Told through Robert Greene's signature blend of historical anecdote and psychological insight and drawing on interviews with world leaders, Concise Mastery builds on the strategies outlined in The 48 Laws of Power to provide a practical guide to greatness - and learn how to start living by your own rules.

The long version:
This book is a practical guide on how to become adept at any skill you choose, at whatever stage you are in your life. This is the review about the concise version. The book is only 210 pages long but filled with practical wisdom that will help you throughout your life.
The main premise of the book is skill development. It delves deep into what makes geniuses different, and how we as normal people can emulate that greatness. There is no sugar-coating involved, the advice is brutally honest and to the point. So, you'll require a very open mind to absorb the book. The principles may seem too farfetched to do, but they are doable if you have the passion.
This book describes all the phases which are involved from going from a complete novice to a master in any specific field. Each phase is unique and important at the same time. The book emphasizes the importance of learning how to learn efficiently, because in the present information age, a skill can become obsolete within a minute's time. So, the one knows how to learn, will be the master of this age.
The author goes in detail about how to find your life's task, how to learn things, what to do at a new workplace, how to observe people and most importantly how to make your work shine with your unique style. He tells you what and what not to do at the workplace. The need of this is greater than ever before. The competition is increasing and to survive you must learn the art of attaining mastery at any specific field.
The topics of the book are so vast that I cannot condense them to fit into this review. If you care about your future, pick up this book, take notes and use it a guidebook. I can't emphasize enough as to the relevancy of this book in the present information age.
