First of all, the keys are not mechanical as they might seem. The actuation force is a bit high for a gaming keyboard, which means the keys need to be pressed a bit hard to register. Typing is fine, but could've been better since I've worked on more affordable keyboards and they type better. And also I would like to point out that the keys are painted and the paint is fading off (I've attached a picture, check it out). This has brought me down because now the keyboard looks cheap and shabby. I use the keyboard for gaming, so the keys I pressed the most are WASD, LShift, Ctrl, Space bar, and Tab. In one of the pictures that I attached, you can see 'A' and 'D' are already faded like they've been scrape out.
Now the lighting effect. The lighting effects are good. There is quite a number of modes you can switch to (video attached). However, the keyboard is base lit and not key lit, which means the lights are not inside each key but is placed in the base of the keyboard and spread out throughout the keyboard. Key lit keyboards are better for readability in low light condition but you will not have a hard time using this keyboard in the same condition, either.
Lastly, the build quality. The keyboard is completely made of plastic. Not too bad, but there is a lot of flex which makes it easy to break if you put some force to it. But I know you're not looking forward to put pressure on the keyboard with your dumbbells or any thing that's heavy, and since you're gonna be using it for gaming, the build quality should bother neither me nor you.
Here's my verdict, for a thousand bucks you can't go wrong with this keyboard. It has decent keys, pretty good lighting effects, decent build quality, and oh I forgot to mention one more important thing, some of the keys have anti-ghosting feature which means if you press them all simultaneously, they will all register which is very important in gaming and you do not find this feature in conventional keyboards. This is a deal maker for me. However, I am not sure which all keys support this, but the keys I use most often which I mentioned above support anti-ghosting so I have no complaint and neither will you.
I'm going to be honest; I was kind of scared when I read the reviews because most of the people were giving negative and bad reviews about it.
Those who gave negative reviews had one of these problems -
1) Improper packaging and wrapping
2) Bad handling by the delivery executive
3) Damaged/removed keys
4) Lighting options not working
5) Broken base/ some of the keys not working
Now, if you're reading through the reviews and are about to move on to the next keyboard then wait and read this one.
I'm going to talk about the keyboard in detail, including all the features, it's pros and cons.
The first thing I did as I got the keyboard was to check every key if it's working correctly or not, and they all were (sigh of relief).
First, the delivery and service :
The order arrived two days early, thanks to the Amazon team. I bought the keyboard in a lightning deal (Rs. 880), which was even more reason to be scared because the lightning deals are infamous for delivering defected and used products. But mine looked good as new and felt terrific. I got the hang of it quickly.
Second, the packaging :
The packaging was intact and adequate. There was a cardboard covering on the outside and then the box of keyboard itself.
Inside the box, the keyboard was covered and protected safely and adequately. So overall, the packaging was fine.
Third, the feel and build quality :
The keys are lifted, as mentioned in the description, and require less pressure to press them (it being a membrane keyboard and all). The keys do make a clickity sound, but it will not be even close to a mechanical keyboard sound, so don't keep your expectations too high.
The build quality is where the keyboard loses points. The plastic used to make the keys and the body feels cheap and not premium at all.
Also, talking about sturdiness, the keyboard is NOT as sturdy as mentioned in the description. It has a lot of flex in it, and the whole seems weak in terms of toughness and durability. But if you don't have a lot of traveling to do with the keyboard (in which the keyboard might break or something), then you don't have a lot to worry about since the keyboard will sit there with your system.
The rubber feet under the keyboard hold it in place and it also has a kind of flippable stand under which can be used to lift the keyboard from behind.
Fourth, the lighting modes :
It has nine lighting modes that are bright enough to look cool even in daylight and the brightness can be changed.
They can be changed by pressing Fn+(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9). I will include images and videos for each lighting mode.
You can change the speed of transitions by Fn+(-,+) and the level of brightness by Fn+(page up, page down).
It has one unique feature, which I liked - the sound-sensitive lighting, which can be activated by Fn+9. It has a built-in microphone that picks up the sound in its surroundings, and the keyboard reacts accordingly. This effect looks really cool and is just amazing.
Lastly, the multimedia keys :
Fn+(F1-F12) Include - one media key (opens the music app), 3 volume keys (up, down and mute), 4 music control keys (play/pause, stop, previous and next), one button to open mail app, one home button (works differently depending on the app open), one lock key (locks the PC), and last calculator button.
The description says that it has a 19-key rollover, which I tested and it IS true and they claim to be having 10M keypresses, so let's hope that turns out to be true as well.
Overall the keyboard is a steal for Rs. 880, with the only drawback being the negligible sturdiness. If you want to buy a cheap RGB keyboard with lots of fun lighting modes, then go for it, it even has a one year warranty, so if anything goes wrong, you can always contact the manufacturer.
Sorry if the review got a bit too long, but I was very confused when I wanted to buy it and I want to help others to clear out their doubts about this keyboard.
This is a really early review and I will update it if I notice any changes in it.
Three months update-
The keyboard is working fine. There are a few cons I discovered after the prolonged use.
-It catches dust like a lot of it. So it requires cleaning the keys every week.
-One of the letter (D) is starting to fade. The printing is not very good, and it's only after three months, so I'm guessing it's going to get much worse after this.
Other than that, everything seems fine and the keyboard is working like it's supposed to. All the lighting modes are functioning well.
