What an amazing book! I have a couple of slow cooker books already but I had no idea of the amazing variety of dishes that my cooker can be used for. This book contains soups, vegetable and vegetarian feasts, meat recipes galore, around 150 cakes, puddings and desserts and also a number of drinks. The instructions are clear and, although this is an American book, it is perfectly suitable for UK cooks to use. My aimis to reduce the number of paper cookbooks that clutter my shelves and I have to say that this is the best slow cooker book I possess. Its limitation is that it does not have photographs, but personally I am happy to accept that for the sheer variety of recipes I have for the paltry price. Mouth-wtering!
Disappointed because the recipes are not what I would eat! Sounded really inviting but unfortunately it's all in American units and some of the ingredients I have no idea where to get them or even what they are. Not really enough healthy, wholesome and homely recipes in it, considering there are 1001 in it! Too many soups and what I would call finger bites (ribs and wings etc) for my liking! I am dairy intolerant and would find it difficult to use at least 3/4 of the book! Thought about returning it but it's gone to the local Hospice shop!
Terrible recipes tried a couple now and they are awful. On what planet can you cook pasta or noodles for 6 hours. Pork recipes leave the pork drier than a desert. Avoid this book the food comes out looking like baby food over cooked mush
Pity measurements are in cups and pounds there are ingredient that I don't know what they are eg is 'tomato sauce' ketchup, puree drained tomato juice or something else? And what is 'hot sauce'? Tabasco?
