Suzanna Medeiros was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Her love for the written word led her to pursue a degree in English Literature from the University of Toronto. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Education degree, but graduated at a time when no teaching jobs were available. After working at a number of interesting places, including a federal inquiry, a youth probation office, and the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario, she decided to pursue her first love - writing. Suzanna is married to her own hero and is the proud mother of twin daughters. She is an avowed romantic who enjoys spending her days writing love stories. Dancing with the Duke was well written and kept me engaged, but the storyline was too predictable. Apart from sexual attraction, there wasn't much else in terms of romance or reasons why the main characters fell in love. The H was very shallow and there wasn't much character development of either main character. A good read if you have a spare hour.

Charlotte had been in love with her best friends brother Alex. Alex had no interest in his sister's best friend the last time he saw her she was gangly and stuttered. He was resistant to Lucy's attempts to matchmake. He stands in the ballroom at Almacks and her beauty captivates him! I loved this novella. The characters are well developed have a detailed backstory and are likeable. The plot is engaging and evenly paced. The romance is both steamy and sweet. Recommended!!

This novella starts off well as a sweet, if not terribly original story, of two people who haven’t seen each other for a few years meeting up again and suddenly finding a mutual attraction. The early part of the book could do with a bit of further development but on the whole, I was enjoying it as a nice, undemanding read. However, all that changed just over halfway through when it felt as if the author had suddenly got fed up with her sweet story and dived into a full-blown sex scene. I felt that this was completely out of character for Charlotte and, to be honest, was very lazy writing. With some more effort the author could have developed the story further to give a lovely satisfying little romance that would leave readers with a warm, fuzzy feeling. Needless to say, I didn’t finish reading the book and won’t be looking for any more by this author.

I enjoyed this short story, wished it was developed properly and followed the social decorum of such time period it represented.

In my opinion (please feel free to disagree) it is quite annoying that modern authors write historical romance with modern times in mind. It will be social suicide and scandalous for both parties to have sex before courting or marriage, regardless of how infatuated they were with each other, that wasn't the norm.

Most authors who write short historical romance stories, always skip courtship as if it never existed, go straight to sex before marriage and this was never the norm for that time period.

This is a short but delightful story of Alex and Charlotte. Charlotte has loved Alex since she was young but Alex merely thought of her as a gangly girl. It's been 7 years since they've seen each other and Charlotte has changed into a beautiful woman. Charlotte attempts to make Alex jealous by inferring she will marry a known rake. Will her ploy work? In the story we briefly meet Alex's two friends who appear in the next two books. Yes, this is a short story but hopefully these characters will appear in the next books. A good beginning and with longer novels there should be more development of their characters.
