"HILARIOUS- Sunday Telegraph A family road trip is to be fun ..... unless of course you are the Heffleys. The journey starts off full of promise, then quickly takes wrong turns. Petrol-station bathrooms, crazed seagulls, fender bender and a runaway pig- not exatley Greg Heffley's idea of a good time. But even the worst road trip turn into in an adventure- and this the Heffleys won't soon forget

I chose this rating because the story was unexpected. I would recommend this book to others for the same reason.

This is my third wimpy kid book and the favorite of them all. The thing I like about wimpy kid books is that the books are intresting right from the start, not like the other books that start their interesting content from the middle. And this wimpy kid book became so good in my opinion because of the twist at the ending. Like, almost half of the book has things about ***** ******(the name is not shown because you have to read the book to find out) and at the last it turns out to be...(it is a secret!)

A book to read for kids all time. A book to read for adults after a tough day...
Genuinely relaxing. It connects to your inner childish self when you go on with the adventures Greg, a middle schooler is having. It reminds of oneself attending those school days. Must read.

Life was better in the old days

Puffin books £12.99 Hardback
Synopsis from http://www.wimpykid.com/books/book10/:
Life was better in the old days. Or was it?
That’s the question Greg Heffley is asking as his town voluntarily unplugs and goes electronics-free. But modern life has its conveniences, and Greg isn’t cut out for an old-fashioned world.
With tension building inside and outside the Heffley home, will Greg find a way to survive? Or is going “old school” just too hard for a kid like Greg?
Read an extract
So what did I think?
As I just started typing diary into the google search bar, Diary of a Wimpy Kid popped up; so that just shows what a phenomenon the series has become. I’ve read the whole series to one child or another in this household-so much so that it just wouldn’t be Christmas if someone didn’t get the latest edition in their stocking!
Old School starts with Greg reflecting on how adults are always wittering on about the good old days”. Greg loves his technology, but Mom is on a mission to get the neighbourhood to have an electronic device free weekend. She has a tough job gaining signatures for her petition, until the day when Grandpa throws a party in the Heffley residence. And Greg has other problems: the pet pig is turning far too human, and Grandpa has come to live with them. Greg’s problems grow so big that he decides to escape by joining the school camp trip to Hardscrabble Farms.
As I read this to my eight year old there were frequent laugh out loud moments, and plenty of cringeworthy situations where my son hid beneath the duvet saying, “Oh no, this is going to hurt! The storyline mainly focusses this time on the father-son-grandson dynamics that grown-ups will identify with! As always, Jeff Kinney’s flawlessly executed illustrations bring the whole thing to life, and there is a perfect text to picture ratio.
If you pushed me, I’d say that his best one so far is The Long Haul, as that had me crying with laughter for a good proportion of the story. But this is just as satisfying as the rest of the series, and certainly brightens up a cold winter’s day.
Well worth a read.

Loved by a teenage boy!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 January 2016Verified Purchase
Brought for my 13 year old brother. He absolutely loves reading and Jeff Kinney is his favourite author and has been for years.
Kinney's books are so enjoyable and hard to put down that my even though its so packed with content, my brother usually reads his Diary of a Wimpy Kid books within one week! He always NEEDS to get the latest book because he knows just how brilliant it will be.
He's been reading them for years and he's a teenager now so these books are a all rounder (age wise). As long as the child can read of even be read to they will no doubt enjoy everything the characters get up to.
It lovely to see a young man step away from game consoles and actually read and to love doing so. I only hope that the next book in the instalment is released soon as he's waiting!

Great for followers of the story
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 November 2020Verified Purchase
Its a great book with some little bits of animation in it that breaks up the text on the pages so its makes it less daunting for a child to read if they are not that keen on reading page after page of a book. Not going to give the plot away, as you can read a review of it elsewhere if you want to know what its about and have not heard of this series of books before. Our son doesn't get much pleasure in reading fiction. Not sure why he just prefers factual books. But this one and the series of these books are ones that he will read when he need to read at school. He likes the stories so that helps and finds them funny. Whereas he's never got into any other books. just reads them because he needs to fo school.

Always read these books when they first came out and even now after all these years Jeff is still one of my favourite children's authors along with the great Roald Dahl and Rudyard Kippling

Bought for my son, who loved it as always. I've read them all so here's my take: these books aren't as funny as they used to be, but still worth it. Greg isn't a role model by any means, but kids don't want to read books about role models.
