To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I made the mistake of not reading reviews prior to purchase. It was a whimsical purchase and, afterall, how bad can a children's book be? The answer is "soooooo bad". Received this book yesterday as it is to be a Christmas gift for my granddaughter. Read through it twice thinking, "I can't believe it's this awful". AWFUL! I anticipated some silly sing-songy antics about dragons and tacos. This book was literally what it would have been like if you sat at the kitchen table with some friends and some drinks writing down your concept of this book. Then you added illustrations and a price tag. No fine tuning or editing - just a off the cuff (bad) story. If I can save even one person from this buyer's remorse then I've done my job.
Oh my days, what an absolute shocker of a purchase this was. I think this is the worst children’s book I have ever purchased. And I write this review as a father of four. There is no story here. It’s utter nonsense. If it was humorous I could have overlooked the poor writing, un-engaging content and lack of character development but it is just nonsense from start to finish. My kids were so bored with this they had pretty much all wandered off before I even got to the end. At first I thought perhaps this is a cultural divide with it being more engaging for a US audience (where the authors are from) - it was a bit of a stretch but I felt I had to come up with some sort of excuse for this soon-to-be toilet paper, but then I read the international reviews and it blew that theory out the water. Terrible on all continents. Absolute waste of money.
The trend of stupid hipster books that have garbage grammar and rambling nonsensical plot lines is beyond annoying. And I live in Brooklyn! Don't waste your time, money, or your child's precious brain.
What a wonderful book - we all adored it! The story is hilarious and the illustrations sweep you off into a mad taco-filled world loved by dragons. I wished I had bought this as a hard back book instead of the kindle edition. I may still do that - it was that good!
This book was awesome. We all laughed and loved it. Of course it is not a book you can read everyday because you know what happens but we do read it every 2 weeks and it is still fun. I recommend everyone read it to your kid at least once because it is very funny.
This is the worst children's book I have ever read. As B. Langner says in her comment it is awful. The text just doesn't make sense. The drawings are cute, maybe if you wrote a new text for each page it would be fun to read. I can't believe it is a best seller. Seems like people don't care about the content anymore as long as there are cute drawings. Better buy a classic like "The very hungry caterpillar".
This story is very entertaining. It will grab your child's attention and not let go. It's about two things that kids love - tacos and friendly dragons who also love tacos, mild tacos. The descriptive vocabulary used in this book is wonderful. Words like chunky, spicy, crispy, smooth, definitely an opportunity for follow up activities using some of these words. The illustrations are fun and colorful. I enjoyed reading this book to my group of kids as much as they liked being read to and stimulated visually. I am going to make a craft and learning game about this book on my website. www.rkidsucceed.com I give this book a 5 star recommendation!
