Product description

Review

[This book] looks at the wonderful world beneath our oceans' surfaces. As well as answering questions about underwater life - including how animals cope in tough conditions and what coral really is - it also provides information on why it's so important to protect these habitats for the future ― The Week Junior Science+Nature

With the explosion of colourful corals to the weird monster-like fish that lurk in the darkest depths, this book will provide readers with a much greater understanding of life beneath the blue blanket ― How it Works

Earth's Incredible Oceans is attractively laid out, each page filled with an ocean scene packed with a mix of photographs, illustrations, and short interesting facts. The target audience of 7- to 9-year-olds will enjoy the easy-to-read and fascinating captions, but the engaging illustrations will draw in children of all ages, so it also works as a picture book for younger children ― BBC Wildlife

Delve deep into the ocean with this new book written by wildlife expert Jess French. Incorporating illustrations and photographs, it includes plenty of information about ocean plants and animals including jellyfish, narwhals and coral - as well as what we can do to help protect our oceans for the future. ― The Week Junior

I already have and love [[ASIN:1788002571 HOW TO HELP A HEDGEHOG AND PROTECT A POLAR BEAR]] by the same author, Jess French, and this is a typically well produced hardback by DK that is beautifully illustrated by Claire McElfatrick.

The current stock images above give an idea of the layout & content as does the ‘LOOK INSIDE’ facility on the Kindle version.

From the back cover:

🐬 ‘Dive down into the ocean to discover the incredible life beneath the waves.

Swim with jellyfish, wonder at the busy life of a seagrass meadow, and fence with narwhals!

You’ll never look at oceans in the same way again...’

ooOoo

Measuring around 23.5 cm x 28.5 cm, the thick board cover, which is enhanced by shiny areas on the front, opens to 80 numbered, matte finish pages split over 5 main sections, subdivided as per the CONTENTS (image below refers).
Each section opens with a double page spread and is packed with all sorts of snippets of information.

At the back is a handy 2-page GLOSSARY before the alphabetical INDEX, just ahead of the ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS & PICTURE CREDITS on the very last page.

From page 69 ~ 'OCEANS & ME':

🐙 'We must take care of our oceans because we rely on them for the future of people, animals, and our planet.'
