5.0 out of 5 stars Adventure + Mystery + Dogs

I am an eleven year old who loves to read. You might have been looking at this book in a bookstore or a library, but you aren't sure you're going to like First Light by Rebecca Stead. I would say you probably will. First, this book is a blend of mystery AND adventure. But, it's not like your everyday mystery book, like ABC Mysteries or Magic Treehouse. It's more like, you think you have figured everything out until you find that you are TERRIBLY wrong. The reason it's an adventure story is because the two main characters both live in Greenland, except one of them lives UNDER the ice. Both of them eventually find some way to get under the ice, or above the ice, where they can experience each other’s world. The two main characters find a connection later in the book, except that they are very different people. Peter lives in New York city and later moves to Greenland (temporarily). Thea is like an old-fashioned person, except she is a part of a matriarchal society living under the ice. If you want to know more, get the book--you will stay up all night reading it.
