2.0 out of 5 stars Weak characterisation of detective
By @bookspace0305 on 8 January 2021
Ghanshyam Shashtri: case 1: investigation begins
Author: Saras Azad
Vikram Patel is found dead in his room on Diwali night just before a month from his wedding. His body is found in his bedroom with his gun in hand and a suicide note. The case is closed as postmortem report says that he has shot himself. But victim fiance and father is not satisfied and suspects to have more to case and so handover his case to private investigator Ghanshyam Shastri.
🛑The book is author experiment that went wrong
🛑The writing format is not something which creates curiosity for its reader , the only reason i read till the end to prove my suspicion was right.
🛑The cover of the book is well designed and throws a lot of answers
🛑You can guess the storyline if u have to know the genre so it was very predictable
🛑The characterisation of the detective is too weak.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good one
By Ruchi on 28 December 2020
The cover reveals the concept of the book. I liked that idea. A son of a famous jeweller in Ahmedabad shot him self. But his family isn’t satisfied with police investigation. Ao his fiancée hires a private detective Ghanshyam Shashtri. I like detective novels no matter who is the protagonist in it. The language of this book is lucid. So it’s beginner’s friendly. Author has developed nice suspense and the book is filled with twists and turns. Overall nice reading. I enjoyed reading it. Good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars An amazing detective book
By Prince raj on 11 January 2021
Ghanshyam Shastri this book is about a boy who lives in Gujarat Ahmedabad with his family, he is just twenty six years old and from the childhood he wanted to be a detective and became one and from past two years he have declared himself a private Detective but yet not got his first case and when he gets his first case how he solves it.

In my opinion the story is slow paced and there is some grammatical errors but it can be ignored.

The story is engrossing and have a ending that have a essence of detective Pairot I feeled it but I would not say it is like Pairot one just the essence.

I will recommend this book to those readers who loves detective book and the Mystery with some dramma.

If you want to read this book then go for it as you will not regret buying it.

I loved this book and I hope you love it too.

Happy reading

3.0 out of 5 stars Fast-paced read with straightforward plot
By Vishakha on 4 January 2021
The theme of the book: suspense, romance, betrayal and crime.

This plot is straightforward until you get into the protagonist's shoe. There is romance, family drama and like Bollywood films twists and turn. It is a fast-paced read and can be read while travelling or just in two hours. I read this book on the near year eve, thought to try something new and fresh.
I adore the characters and their personalities. Like for an instance, protagonists was judged because of his career choices and being an elder son or main earning member. But how he tackled that situation is worth learning. Never to give up attitudes types.
Some characters were not that important, but yet the author has given them some importance. Like his maternal uncles and aunts. I knew it was to build a story around, but without them also story could have processed.
The story is decent but the unnecessary sexual stuff, seriously not appreciated. But the narrative was good, the author has portrayed in clear Gujarati food and culture.

I have read somewhere that "No Crime Is Perfect Crime" and plot maintains it.

Altogether, a decent read with enough twists and turns.

3.0 out of 5 stars Light and entertaining
By Livre_monde on 31 December 2020
Strengths of the book:
- The tone of the narration is entertaining and keeps the story light.
- Several characters like Ghanshyam Shastri, Madhuri, Govind, etc have been developed beautifully, they are interesting and relatable.
- The story flows at a consistent pace and remains entertaining till the end.
- The last 15% of the book has unexpected twists and turns.
- There is sufficient mix of humor and romance to keep the story light.

Things which could have been better:
- A bit of more thrill and suspense in the initial parts of the book would have added to the flavor. For the first 80% of the book, the main character was just trying to draw multiple hypotheses and test their validity. The thrill which was there in the last few pages was missing in the remaining sections.

Who should read this book?
- If you like light-headed crime thrillers, go for it. I would recommend it to beginners.
- If you are traveling or have a couple of spare hours in hand or looking for a light weekend/holiday read, this book is for you.
