I have been caring for my sister for almost three years and using my own books for encouragement! Is caregiving the same? Am I encountering the same concerns?
Yes and No. Being siblings and both seniors have different emotional hurdles especially when caring for her meant treating her addiction to methadone. It has been an exhausting and sad experience that prompted me to learn new skills and encourage myself. Caring for an addicted loved one causes much mental anguish and heartache for the caregiver.
She is still with me and with the help of a qualified physician in behavior rehabilitation has reduced the amount of medication but suffers from several serious health issues. A future book will be forthcoming and hopefully enlighten another family member caring for a loved one addicted to methadone or opioids. Watch for it.
Till then, I journal to document our story and as an outlet to express my frustrations and concerns. Sometimes my journaling is prayer and meditation which renews my strength and spirit.
Blank journals are wonderful for documenting and recording memories but also for meditation, inspiration and self-growth. I began publishing journals/notebooks to accompany my caregiving books because they are advantageous to a caregiver's well-being. They are a tool for respite, clarity, and direction.
But several new journals are great for anytime, not just for you but make great gifts. I recently presented Seasons of Life to my niece and her husband as they began the parenting season of life.

A PROMISE KEPT, first book in A Promise Kept Books of Inspiration, is a memoir of the season of caring for her mother. She identifies some key factors of frustration, exhaustion, and stress and scriptures to address them. The Spanish translation is UNA PROMESA CUMPLIDA.

Purpose Coach. Minister. Author.
Author, motivational speaker, minister and a Certified Purpose Life Coach. After many years of working, in the field of Accounting. I was filling trapped in a 9-5 job just going through the motions. I grew up in church and still didn’t know what I was created to do. I begin to inquire of God, why did you create me? I did some soul searching, reflecting on my experiences and what I love doing.
Finally, I have found my purpose, the very thing that makes me unique. What makes my heart sings is serving, listening, empathizing, comforting, encouraging and coaching. I have developed a passion for helping women find their purpose.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Psalm 139:13-14
My Life's Purpose
The work I have done in the church and in the community has led me to a place of discovering my true purpose. I am able to equip, empower, teach, and coach women with the help they desire to maximize their God-given potential. I’m on a mission to help women discover their passion to live a purposeful life. I know that helping women live a fulfilling life is what I am born to do.
Our greatest enemy is fear and it prevents us from getting aligned with our true purpose. We are all born with a purpose and we have untapped gifts and talents that often lie dormant. I believe there is greatness on the inside of all of us. I am here to help you find your untapped gifts, and talents to get you aligned with your purpose.

As a Veteran of 15 NaNoWriMo Events - and a winner in 16 of them (OK, one of my manuscripts floated downstream in the 2013 Boulder Flood) I can safely state I can write under pressure! You can find out all about this event at: https://nanowrimo.org/participants/wholygirl
I am re-starting my blog: The Etheric Pulpit - a rant about whatever catches my eye, and you can find it at www.melissaellenpenn.com
Some say that I'm a whore for words - in that I write for money. No matter. But take heed - as the motto on my sweatshirt says: "Careful or you'll wind up in my novel!" This lovely sentiment was provided by one of my classmates when I attended the Institute of Culture and Creation Spirituality. NO... this isn't an indoctrination camp for non-darwinists, but rather the school of Fr. Matthew Fox of "Original Blessing" fame. (www.matthewfox.org)
The school was set at Holy Names College - an idyllic set of buildings nestled among the Oakland Hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The school was originally a girl's college, to keep young Catholic girls chaste, and prepared for a life as doormats for G*d. However, needs must, and the school had to expand to meet its ever-growing expenses. They had to let the riffraff in, namely the students of ICCS.
The nuns never missed an opportunity to fling their unhappiness at us: wanton, liberal, adults beyond their control. If there was a petty, ridiculous way to make our day miserable they took every opportunity to seize it!
Needless to say their behavior wore out any redemption they had to offer by the year's end, and after my graduation I wrote: The Fox's Tale. It was set at Holy Terrors College, where among the ivy-clad walls, and hallowed halls I murdered off each and every one of those nuns in graphic detail. Very therapeutic I must say! I sent off the manuscript to my fellow inmates, errrr ... ummm, graduate students, and one of them sent a sweatshirt with the aforementioned quote.
My essay in Everyday Joy is called "Joyful Bounding" and is about my spiritual communion with rabbits - with whom I hold a great affection. I am currently writing a novel set in 7th Century North Africa, and a nonfiction book on ethics.

Taeko Hayatsu is an energy healer, Taeko discovered there are two parts of the human body, the visible, and the invisible body. Visible body means the physical body -- you can pinch your self or scrape your knee. The invisible body is the energy that surrounds us. Both bodies can suffer from illness. You go to a doctor or a nurse for your physical body. An energy healer is the one who can help with your invisible body.
Energy healers detect a body's energy through auras and chakras. An aura is an egg-shaped energy field that surrounds us. It is our library of books that show our various energies. Chakras are energy points that cycle energy. Whether they are cycling too fast or too slow or just right.
Taeko has studied at five schools over thirteen years. The US/Japanese school where she honed her skills was Clearsight. As a Quantum Healer and Mastership of higher Clairvoyancy, via Clearsight, and her personal experience helping over 1,400 people, Taeko is very adept at long-distance energy healing.
Taeko was born in Japan and lives in the U.S., and practices long-distance energy healing with Japanese and American clients. Clients who receive long-distance healing sessions are generally surprised by the outcome of the work. Taeko is eager to help more people receive the same benefits of energy healing.

Linda Bittle grew up (mostly) in rural Missouri where she developed a love of nature, books, and history. Being a responsible adult, she's held jobs as diverse as nurse's aide, hospital storeroom clerk, hospital nutrition services clerk, craft store salesperson, bookkeeper and business manager for several small businesses and a nationally known non-profit outdoor education school, daycare cook, and elementary school custodian.
Finding herself divorced in midlife, she decided to pursue her passions. She's a 2007 graduate of the Anake Program at Wilderness Awareness School in Duvall, Washington, and a 2009 graduate of their Wildlife Tracking Intensive. Her class project on domestic dog tracks led to an opportunity to speak at the 2011 International Society of Professional Trackers conference. In 2013, she earned a Level III certification in Track & Sign from CyberTracker Conservation. She is beginning to share that journey on her blog, This Is Not Where I Thought I Was Going. You can read it at https://lindabittle.com/
Linda is a Pro Staff member at ReelCamo Girl (https://reelcamogirl.com/), a Street Team member at The Grow Network (https://thegrownetwork.com/), and an Associate Member of Western Writers of America (https://westernwriters.org/).
She is a past board member and officer of the Duvall, WA Friends of the Library, and a former board member of the Council Valley Heritage Festival. She volunteers with women’s outdoor events and with youth programs at churches and other programs.
After living in western Washington and rural Idaho for 15 years, Linda has returned to her home state of Missouri to be near family. She shares her home in the Ozarks with 2 formerly stray cats – one of which moved with her from Idaho.
For fun she tracks animals, hikes on local trails, gardens, creates crafty things, practices kitchen table herbalism, writes, and reads at least 2 books a week. She teaches short classes on gratitude journaling, pine needle basket making, embroidery and sewing, making fruit cordials, making friends with the Instant Pot, and - of course - wildlife tracking.

With a family heritage of singers, songwriters, and storytellers, Susan’s destiny as a writer was settled early on. Her articles have been published sporadically in Church of God magazines and her local newspapers over many years. Drawing on her experiences with Victorian caroling groups, she wrote and self-published three non-fiction books to help others who want to begin a similar group. Her love for history led to her current projects, fictional accounts of a certain event during the Civil War. For a change of pace, she occasionally enjoys writing children’s stories.
Apart from writing, Susan is involved in Toastmasters and Word Weavers groups in her hometown of Columbus, Georgia. She is also a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). Susan and husband Ricky have three adult children and five fabulous grandsons.
Growing up in a small Canadian town, Cory had a great deal of freedom to nurture her imagination, exploring caves on the Niagara Escarpment and the forest at the end of her street.
When her English teacher suggested that she become a writer, she dismissed that as an impossible goal. She owes that teacher a debt of gratitude for planting the seed of possibility. It took her a lifetime to let that grow.
Cory has worked with award-winning author and editor, Donna Kozik on her first solo publication, The F.I.X. Code, in which she shares some of the details of her journey to writing, overcoming many obstacles.
The F.I.X. Code is part memoir, part observation of human nature. It provides the background for her journey with the F.I.X. Code Technique-and how she was able to use that to overcome her fears.
She has contributed to several Community Book Projects with Donna Kozik and enjoys the challenge of writing succinctly.
You can find Cory at her new blog, youre-not-thebossofme.com
