5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for all ages!!!!
By Lohitaksh Trehan on 21 November 2017
This book was suggested to me by someone who is atleast 20 yrs older than me (I am 20 by the way), had been 3 days and boy I have read almost 3 fourth of the book. It's soo interesting. If someone of you have doubts of this being a religious book, then I may clarify that the book is not about Hindu Religion. It's about the way to lead a happy life without regrets. It has centered its theme around the battles we have in our mind everyday about what's right and what's wrong. This book helps you clear the fog in your mind, so that you can see the truth. Gita in its orignal form is a tough book to understand, by writing "Gita for children", author is just conveying that this is a simplified version after which you can explore the whole new world. This stepping stone is a marvellous piece of hardwork. If you have ever studied subjects like Psychology or Philosophy, you will find this very interesting.
Hope this helps you

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs originality when the title says it's for children
By Muthu on 26 February 2020
I was expecting any examples thru which we can convey the message to children of 5-10 years.. bhagwad Gita content is not elaborated with any such examples where children could understand.. Content is moreover copy paste from Google.. not all shlokas are referred. Only few shlokas are there..

This book contains many other things like
10 avtaars of Vishnu
12 names of Krishna
12 names of Arjuna
Ashtanga yoga
seven ages of man
12 months of Hindu calenders
6 seasons
Sattvik diet list..

I believe its suitable fr age 20 and above.. title should have been renamed to 'Gita for teems'

Overall it's good fr a beginner to introduce them to Gita. Quality of print and pages is not that bad. .. nothing new has been added. I found sudha murthys books more appealing..

5.0 out of 5 stars A LITERARY MARVEL!
By Nachiketh | @thedocreadstoomuch on 4 June 2020
Having been a fan of Roopa Pai’s Taranauts series, I went into this book with high expectations. And boy, did it not disappoint! The Gita for Children is a wonderful take on the holy scripture with fun real-life examples and scenarios that will keep you flying through the pages!

I’ve always wanted to read the Gita but never gave it a try because it seemed too philosophical and boring. Being super honest here, haha. But when I found out about this book, I KNEW my time to read the Gita had finally come! I wanted to know everything there is about the magical conversation about Krishna and Arjuna that turned the tides in one of the biggest wars of all time!

If you’re someone who is not at all familiar with Sanskrit terms and are wondering if you’d be able to understand what’s being spoken about in the book, fret not! Pai has elaborately explained EVERYTHING in the book, from seasons to food items! It’s a complete guide to everything you essentially need to know about and in the Gita!

You might be wondering – the title of the book says it’s for children. But I’m an adult. I want to read and understand the Gita but not something that’s intended for children. Worry not, because you’re in for a treat as well! Every concept that is dealt with in the Gita is explained with relatable daily scenarios and circumstances which will not leave a sliver of a doubt!

The Gita has 700 shlokas. It’s too lengthy. I might get bored. If that’s what you think, then that thought ought to go in the trash! This book explains the Gita chapterwise (Adhyayas as they are called in Sanskrit) with much emphasis on the topics discussed by Krishna and a sprinkle of the most famous shlokas in that chapter! See, it’s not boring AT ALL.

Well, how did I forget to mention the beauty that is Roopa Pai’s writing? The conversation between Krishna and Arjuna made my heart swell with joy! I so wanted Krishna to be my bestie too haha. Having been a huge fan of Pai’s quirky hilarious writing style, this came as no surprise to me! It was super impressive to see that writing style incorporated in a book such as this! Trust me, you’re in for a feast!

Scattered throughout the book are illustrations that add to this fun journey! Sayan Mukherjee’s illustrations capture the setting perfectly! At one point, I was staring at all the details in an illustration before I realised I had to get on with the book!

In short: PICK UP THIS BOOK. As they say, the Gita knows no religion. It’s a potpourri of values and morals and virtues that are fundamental to every human being, whatever God you worship. So what are you waiting for?

This book has one of the best dedications I’ve ever come across (I am not exaggerating when I say I want to get this tattooed on my arm. Roopa Pai KNOWS how to make you her fan even before the first page!):

Good luck finding the Krishna inside you – it won’t be easy, but they say He is totally worth it.
