Review
The sound of the words, the ideas they convey and the pictures combine to lull and reassure, The New York Times
Rhythmic, gently lulling words combined with warm and equally lulling pictures make this beloved classic an ideal bedtime book, Christian Science Monitor
The words are like an incantation, a spell - intoxicating for children and mercifully unannoying for parents, even on the hundredth reading. To hear the opening line of Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon - “In the great green room” - is to embark on a Proustian reverie about a calm place with the lights turned low and a child snuggling sleepily in your arms. It seems as complete as a children’s book can be., The New York Times Published On: 2017-02-16
It is inconceivable that the last line – “goodnight noises anywhere” could be uttered in anything but a whisper, by which point eyes are drooping and the Land of Nod beckons., Evening Standard - The best timeless story books for young children
One of the world’s favourite bedtime books, perfect for soothing small children to sleep, Eastern Daily Press

I completely love this book for the look and the simplicity. A perfect night read for 6months and above babies. One can make it a very interactive book for toddlers. Kids can learn first words and also increases their word bank from this book. Delivery was on time as mentioned. The quality is very good. Strong and sturdy pages. 5/5

This is the best purchase I have made in books for my one year old. Going by the 3000+ reviews on Amazon.com, I purchased this book. I received a book with very dull pictures & colors and I made up my mind that this book is not going to impress my baby. But to my surprise, my baby spent hours with this book. Sometimes he is focusing on the tiny rat on a page and sometimes he is trying to find that rat on the next page. It is a super engaging book. Initially I could not figure out the concept of this book but my baby taught me the same by pointing to the bowl in the scenery.
I am going to purchase a new one soon because the current one is in bad condition because it travels with us everywhere.

Bit overrated. Didn't find the rhymes interesting for a baby/toddler, although if sung, might be lulling. The black and white pages interspersed with the coloured ones might be to give an impression of lights dimming, but my nephew only found it puzzling and flipped over faster over the grey pages, looking for the colour. I didn't find a way to make the alteration interesting, the author might have added rhyme to that effect

My daughter initially showed little interest in this book.. but it grew on her over time.. even I was a bit disappointed with the pictures..as thr are b&w alternati g with colour pages..and the single picture is repeated in the entire book... however I've lost count of how many times my 2 yr old makes me read out this book in a day..it's obvious why it has stood the test of time. Absolute classic

This book has been q classic for generations and so I bought it. I read a lot to my 15mo. And honestly, I wasn't impressed with the book. But read it to your baby once...and you will know this book is a winner! Through repitition, simple language and complex and simple pages, they manage to get it right. My baby loves it and it is a part of our everyday bedtime routine now.

The book has same room in different pages and not all pages are having color. Initially my kid was not finding it very intresting and even i found it dull... But later i noticed she was able to pick the things and will point towards them... Its a good way to introduce books/ story books to kid.
But again every kid is different, mine has found very little intrest in it after couple of weeks, some kids would have found it very intresting and some may not like at all.
The catch here is that every parent may lile to give 2-3 weeka to their kid so they can get uses to the book... But if by then also kids are not liking it and parents may try to return, i think the 10 days replace/refund would have got expired.
But any how i found it good for my girl. The book quality is awesome, if not the content.

I have bought both Paperback as well as Board Book edition of the same. Found the board book much more attractive, durable and cost effective.

One classic that hasn’t stood the test of time
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 October 2019Verified Purchase
While this may have appealed to children 50 years ago, I don’t think it has stood the test of time. Yes, it’s sweet with nice little rhymes, but it really fades in comparison with more modern examples of children’s literature. It’s not, for instance, a book that lends itself to being read aloud, as there is no scope for interesting voices, gestures or noises. And the black and white illustrations on certain pages are very boring. It’s all really rather bland and old-fashioned.
I adore reading to my two little grandsons who, despite being just 2 and 3, have already developed a real passion for books. This one, however, just hasn’t grabbed their attention at all and is never picked from the shelf when it’s time for a bedtime story. I trust their judgement, so just two stars I’m afraid.

What a lovely bedtime book!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 September 2018Verified Purchase
I absolutely love this book and so does my 22month old. She wants to read it every night before bed. The book says goodnight to lots of different object that are found in the bunny's room. It has colour pages and then focuses on some of the objects in black and white and the sentences rhyme. This books allows small children to read and engage with the images and the short sentences. I often read the first part of the sentence and let my daughter say the object that the book refers to by pointing at it. She will spend ages just looking at the images and then finding them when I ask her, 'where is...'
It truly is a favourite in our household and I would recommend for any with small children, babies, toddlers. Such a nice story to get them talking about, and also help them drift off to sleep.

This book is a medicine for the mind :)
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 September 2020Verified Purchase
When I first bought this book for my little girl I didn’t get it. There are no bells and whistles, there’s no action, there are very few characters/animals, even the rhyme feels too simple...but over time, I realised that this is exactly the right type of book to soothe your little one and to give them comfort and familiarity.
We don’t read this book every night, but when we do, it’s like a mantra and sometimes when there’s sore teeth or a nightmare or a cold, it’s exactly what’s needed. It’s like medicine for mind (and not just for your child).
We have so many books for our little girl who is now 2, but this one remains the best one.

Lovely for little ones.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 April 2017Verified Purchase
I bought one each for my two youngest granddaughters. It's a perfect example of a little character who doesn't want to go to sleep just yet and will keep adding things to their "goodnight" list. There's plenty for tinies to spot on each page. I was taken by how muted the illustrations are, no garish artwork or colouring. I thoroughly recommend it.

Toddler likes the simplicity of it
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 October 2019Verified Purchase
Seriously hesitated buying this book as thought it looked outdated and the colours were off putting. To my surprise my now 18 month old likes this book going to bed for the past three months, and enjoys pointing out the different items in the room. I think its the simplicity of it, talking through what we see, and being able to recognise and point out the familiar items (other than the creepy old lady whispering hush). He now likes to look at the different scenes of the bunny getting into bed, and of course when the bunny is finally asleep, he shouts to wake him!
