Nayanika could disrupt History learning with her action packed , racy writing that keeps the TV cartoon generation of today hooked on to the book. My son finished it start to finish and for once forgot his Pokemon , Avengers attempt to save the world and Roll No 21 for this book . Nayanika has interwoven the story in her own inimitable way with " Yuherdit and YakketyYak taking the kids on a journey from Mongolia to Italy , sweeping every thing along the way . We get an interesting insight into the lives of the folks across the vast Mongol empire . Many lesser known but equally interesting facts about this Gory emperor are brought to light . Nayanika has done her research thoroughly , but is adept at presenting the facts in a way that kids and parents alike would find to be interesting and as they say It's different . We are seeing the birth of a new genre of History writing and Nayanika may be the Genghis khan herself , leading this revolution in Historical reporting to a 21st century audience . Hope she's working on her next book ...
The book is funny and entertaining . The story of Genghis is told by a comical Yakkety Yak, a news reporter Hearfurst and a seer . With easy converstions , lovely illustrations and even rap songs - the book is very easy to read and presents a plethore of well researched , little known facts in an easy to read entertaining way. kudos to Nayanika for having made history and even the Gory Gengis Khan almost "great"! A must read for all - My 9 year old , a huge fan of the horrible History series has really lapped this one up, and wants to know if there are more coming...
If there is one history book I would want to pick it will be this one! Genghis khan is portrayed with such fondness that you cant help falling in love with him. The book is written with fresh touches even the gory part like mass killings, and tortures can be read by kids without feeling scared! My personal favourite in the book was Yuherdit Hearfurst! Bravo to the author Nayanika Mahtani for writing so beautifully, many successes to this book and wish to read many more books from Nayanika!!
From the very first page, the book is gripping.Informative, yet humorously light. It is written a tone that children of today will identify with ! The truth behind the "gory" details was presented in a unique child friendly yet mature manner.
This book is a rare jewel that I know will be loved and accepted by our youngsters. It is probably one of the best books to give as a present as it will act as a key to reopen or reintroduce our young readers back into the magical world of books !

I know its for kids but what the heck the cover says 9+...(I qualify). Loved the puns (no pun intended!)and Yuherdit Hearfurst's prompt reporting ...Thank you Nayanika. Waiting for the next.
