As a new grandmother, I set out to create a collection of charming, clever and dainty stories and poems of fairies, goblins, children and animals that I could read aloud to my grandchildren. I adored Rose Fyleman's wily, witty characters as a child and love sharing them now. (It is incredible that she wrote these fables in London in and around the First World War.) I wanted a perfectly-formatted, easy-to-use Kindle release that include her enchanting work at a fantastic price. And here is the result.

The collection begins with Rainbow Cat, who lives in Fairyland. Finding things a little quiet, he sets off to visit friends in neighboring countries. His adventures take him to Cloud Land where he attends a wedding, to Tree Goblin Land where he takes on a dress problem for the Queen of the Fairies, to the Bountiful Land, where he rescues a giantess and finally the Ever After country where all those who live "happily ever after" are in residence. The stories captivate the imagination, with clever twists both children and their readers will enjoy.

The poems and stories are meant to read aloud. They are perfectly composed so that the rhyme and rhythm is delightfully intricate but never too complicated to get right on the first read. After each short story there is a Paws Point with reflections for reader and listener to pause and ponder. Sometimes the insert is an anecdote, other times a hypothesis or question, all meant to keep the story alive, relevant and fun.
