This books picks up from the end of its prequel and the story and subplots revolve around one main question: Who exactly is Tobias Hawthorne II and where is he now?

Coming to the story, it was fast-paced than before book which I liked. Decisions are made quickly and put into action. The love triangle goes on and so does the romance between Avery and Jameson. Complex relations cover most of the book so I suggest you better go slow while reading to understand properly, there were shocking revelations, few threats and therefore little action. Adding Max for few chapters was a good add on, Xander is given more importance in this book and the puzzles were also good.

Overall, all loose ends are tied up. Let's see what the next and final book of this series will offer us....

I didn't think it was possible to read a book as riveting as The Inheritance Games, but Jennifer Lynn Barnes threw me a wrench and twisted me through the loops and tunnels and puzzles that I grew to know was the epitome of Tobias Hawthorne.

This book was the feverish attempt of Tobias Hawthorne to bring his *presumed dead* son home, and mend his family. His 3 children grew apart due to the unfortunate situations they had in their childhood. One daughter taking on the brunt of all the family issues, another completely aloof and narcissistic, while the son just grew to despise all that he came from. It really takes a look into how even the richest and most seemingly put together families have holes and flaws.

While we're on a hunt to find Tobias Hawthorne the second, we learn about the love the Hawthorne brothers have for each other, their family, and Avery. Xander steps up into the spotlight in The Hawthorne Legacy and doesn't play in the shadows anymore. We get a glimpse into the trifecta that is Rebecca, Thea, and Xander- and the lengths that the brothers will go to to protect their own.

We also get a deeper glimpse into the devotion Oren has to Avery and Tobias Hawthorne. Oren was overlooked a little in the last book, but in this, you learn a lot more about him, his past, and how his personal identity and worth is deeply tied into the Hawthorne mess.

Then we have the never-ending mess of "Who Is Avery's Father"?! It was one thing then the next, then the next, and the ending had me sighing with unhappiness- the alternate would have really been too predictable. And as we've discussed, Jennifer does not do predictable.

I loved every bit of this book, learning about all the family ties- how much more interwoven they are to each other than we previously thought, and the new twists and turns we experience.

I mean, getting blown up, getting cussed out by 'grandma', being held hostage... It's all in The Hawthorne Legacy and seriously a 10/10 reading experience!

This picks up not long after the first book left off. This time they are trying to find out where Toby is. They know he's alive but there is so much mystery on what happened the summer he was supposed to have died.

Avery is still at risk and the boys mother is still doing her best to make Avery look bad. Even brings in her sperm donor to stir the pot. By the end though it doesn't work.

Orsen is kind of a mystery to especially with what we find out at the end when he rescues Avery for the second time in the book after her kidnapper is taken out. I really loved the secrets revealed about her mom's past that is part of Toby's too. Those twists I never even thought of.

I don't know what's next now that the latest game has mostly been solved, but I can't wait to find out that's for sure. Loving this so much and the brothers are wonderful. We find out about two of theirs dad. There was even scandal back in the day with the Skye their mom stealing her sisters guy. Zara in this was so much better than her sister that's for sure. She even helped them.

Another thrilling, mysterious, exciting story with lots of twists and turns and more twists and turns.

Avery is once again in the middle of mystery and family secrets. Is she the knife or the glass ballerina? Or something else entirely. You will find out in this book and I can tell you that it is definitely a suprise revealed in the last 100 pages or so, of the book. Or is it?

Well I can say, I really enjoyed this one and that it is a great follow up. I love looking into details and coming up with my own answers of riddles presented.

I'm a bit torn about the choice she makes regarding the Hawthorne brothers..
"If yes is no, and once is never, then how many sides does a triangle have?"
But then again, how can you choose between the Hawthorne brothers..

This book reveals secrets on top of secrets and lets you know, just how complicated the Hawthorne family is and what comes with the territory being as rich as they are. The world building is quite detailed and the puzzles had to be thought out by a genius. I wonder how much time the author put into making that work.

So overall I definitely recommend this inheritance games novel! Come play this deadly game...
