5.0 out of 5 stars I Need More Heartstopper!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 February 2019
Back in the day, I was a massive fan of All Time Low (think I Was Born For This level of fandom) and would spend hours and hours reading slash fiction relating to the band; there was nothing else out there like it! So, something like Heartstopper, which focuses on male friendships, relationships and everything in between, would've been as popular then as it is today within the slash fiction community and I would've adored it. That said, as a young adult who doesn't read a lot of LGBT books, I still loved reading Heartstopper!

Rightly so, this comic has been getting a LOT of love on social media, and so I was intrigued to see what the hype was all about. I was desperate to get my hands on a copy, and so after FINALLY getting to read it, I don't know how I'm going to wait so long for volume two! I think what I loved was the whole innocence and angst that comes across from the characters. Charlie and Nick are so adorable, and it's really interesting to see how their personas can hide a whole host of feelings and emotions and seeing their friendship blossom. Alice's illustrations, whilst simple, make for a really enjoyable read as you really get sucked into the story and they surprisingly do bring them to life!

If I had to find one flaw with Heartstopper: Volume 1, it's that it's too short; I flew through this volume and have been left wanting more!

An easy peasy 5 star review. I read this in 2 sittings as a buddy read. I easily could’ve devoured it all in one go though. It’s just such a warm and inviting book. I really needed something light after all my fantasy reading. 💤

The illustrations are fantastic! I’m obsessed with the different layouts in this book. It’s really made me want to get back into illustration myself for a start. Also the book itself is so 🤤. I’m obsessed with the size of this book, the cover is so smooth and the pastel cover is dreamy. They’re stunning books! 😍

Charlie and Nick are both just so loveable, I could really tell their characters in every page. It a VERY easy read, so little text I actually didn’t feel like I was in a book, it felt more like a tv show. Oseman did an amazing job writing and illustrating a teen romance. But even better an LGBTQ+ romance! Woohoo. It’s SO cute! Like cuter than any romance novel I’ve read this year for sure. 🥰

I’m desperate to read the next book but I also REALLY don’t want to finish the series, I won’t know what to do with myself. There’s a reason this book is hyped. I urge everyone, reader or not, to grab the first volume. You need this pair in your life. 👬 @lifeonasofa

REVIEW FOR AMAZON NOT THE BOOK
My copy arrived in such bad quality, the pages were cut all choppy. They were red along the bottom where the guide marks hadn’t been followed. It wouldn’t even sit flat on my shelf. I ordered a second one and returned my first, the second was even worse! I ended up buying from somewhere else and they arrived fine. Ive had to return several Amazon books, they just arrive so beaten.
