After reading initial books in Rogue series and Penelope's, I had moved on to Dukes series which quite disappointed me however the last 2 books of the wicked wallflower series were excellent hence I decided to attempt reading this series again and I must admit this is quite excellent read. It has all the right ingredients for a romantic book.
There are few typos here and there which if you ignore you have a good novel
9 year old lonely girl, Eve, who is daughter of duke befriends a street urchin Calum who stumbles in her stables. When Calum is stabbed after stealing and rushes to Eve, she finds him bleeding, inorder to rescue his life , she rushes to her elder brother for help. Her elder brother hands over Calum to Newgate for hanging. All the years, Eve lives in guilt that her carelessness has led to her only friend's death. In his memory she opens foundling hospital. Her elder brother , the villain of the story, runs through debts and now wants Eve's inheritance. He decides to get her married off, even ready to declare her mad. Fearing her life, she runs off and seeks position of Bookkeeping at Gambling den. The very place where Calum is now the co owner. She is shocked to find him alive yet scared to reveal her identity as Calum lives through biterness that his childhood friend Eve had betrayed him. Then starts a beautiful story of love, emotions, witty banter , angst and romance

This review is after a re-read of the story. This was the first book I had read from Christi, and it had me enthralled! And now when I have read it again after more than a year, it still held it's charm, it's beauty. This book gripped me from the prequel itself and as the story progresses one cannot help but become a part of the lives of characters. The uncertainty, the tension and the underlying love which cannot be ignored is so well expressed. And as usual, the secondary characters have so much depth to their characterisation!
Another celebration of love - not to be missed!

Calum Dabney is the peacemaker in the “family” that own the Hell and Sin Club. Not as volatile as his siblings, he is more ready with a smile and a calming word that usually quietens any disagreements between his family and fights in the club. Reared as an pickpocket on the streets, he had a friend who used to give him food and shared her love of books with him in her families stable where he would occasionally take refuge.
Eve loved her friend and looked forward to his visits when she would read to him from her favourite books. Calum was her only friend and all the company she had. Then one fateful day, when she was nine years old, she found that he had been stabbed and although she tried, she could not help him. So she told her brother that he was in the stable....
This story really did reduce me to tears at one point. Here is a writer with the gift of making me love or loathe her characters, the ability to draw me in to her tales and feel the atmosphere. I intend to read everything she has written or will write and don’t think I will be disappointed.

I have loved every instalment in the Sinful Brides series, but I think this might just be my favourite. For a start, it follows one of my favourite tropes (friends to lovers) but with a twist - the hero doesn’t know who she really is.

I’ve liked Calum since the first book in the series, and was surprised at how easily I warmed to Eve, who is introduced for the first time in this book, knowing from the start that she was deceiving Calum. It was good to see some of the other Hell and Sin characters returning (although I missed Ryker and Niall) and to meet new characters that I can’t wait to hear more about!

Even though I don't particularly like to read series this set has been enjoyable. The ending was the only let down as it was too rushed it would have been nice to know how her brother reacted ect.
