From The Hunger Games

The moment the anthem ends, we are taken into custody. I don't mean we're handcuffed or anything, but a group of Peacekeepers marches us through the front door of the Justice Building. Maybe tributes have tried to escape in the past. I've never seen that happen though.

Once inside, I'm conducted to a room and left alone. It's the richest place I've ever been in, with thick, deep carpets and a velvet couch and chairs. I know velvet because my mother has a dress with a collar made of the stuff. When I sit on the couch, I can't help running my fingers over the fabric repeatedly. It helps to calm me as I try to prepare for the next hour. The time allotted for the tributes to say good-bye to their loved ones. I cannot afford to get upset, to leave this room with puffy eyes and a red nose. Crying is not an option. There will be more cameras at the train station.

My sister and my mother come first. I reach out to Prim and she climbs on my lap, her arms around my neck, head on my shoulder, just like she did when she was a toddler. My mother sits beside me and wraps her arms around us. For a few minutes, we say nothing. Then I start telling them all the things they must remember to do, now that I will not be there to do them for them. --This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fire fire firee 🔥🔥
By Amazon Customer on 7 August 2018
I got the slightly damaged product but that’s okay.
I have always loved Amazon and everything about it.
I don’t know why they stopped giving bookmarksss with every book though🙈 I could honestly use some little gift from them💯

About the book -
It is one of the best book of dystopian genreee you can ever read🔥
The plot, language, characters everything iss soo soo good, you wouldn’t want to keep it down.

P.S - there is also a movie of this book, and it is nothing in comparison to book. Read the book before you see moviee 🎉 Just my suggestions ☺️

4.0 out of 5 stars Fresh!
By Tahoora Hashmi on 29 May 2019
Overall Rating: 3.5/5
.
💭One thing that's clear to me is the fact that seeing the movies first really had an impact on my reading experience & at points made me wonder if I'd really be head over heels for the book if I read it first the way I was for the movie.
💭The 1/3 of the book was quite slow and stretched but it recovered it's pace in the other thirds.
💭I've been the biggest fan of Katniss Everdeen but in the books she irritated me by her pessimism & arrogance in the 1/3rd part and that's is exactly how she was supposed to be portrayed in those. So, in a way the author did a really good job at it.
💭I wonder if it could've been a better narration from Peeta or the Author's Point of View at certain parts of self doubt from Katniss to make the reader focus on the possibilities of her impact rather than how low she thinks of herself & yet filled with so much arrogance.

4.0 out of 5 stars It is amazing.
By Sudhanshu Pandey on 2 February 2021
I ordered the used book and it was delivered really in good condition.
From a long time I wished of reading hunger games and when its arrives, I completed it in just two days. As it is very nicely written in such an easy way, it is full of adventures and suspense. The story is about the girl name Katniss who takes part in the game, in which out of 24 contestant have to survive & fight/kill each other until only one left alive.
I also have ordered other two parts,
The catching fire and the Mockingjay.
