After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.

In book 21 in the series, it's Christmas in Holiday Bay and the whole town has pitched in to ensure that this Christmas is the best one yet. Meanwhile Colt has a series of thefts to deal with, Georgia has some tough decisions to make, Mylie is busy with her annual list, Annabelle is participating in a holiday pageant, and a whole new group of guests have checked in. Amongst the new guests are, a tree lot Santa with a secret, a social worker with an orphan on her way to foster care, an elderly woman dealing with her first Christmas after the death of her husband, and a scrooge of a travel writer assigned a heartfelt Christmas story in spite of the fact that she'd just as soon skip the whole thing.

The latest from Holiday Bay, Kathi Daleys cosy mystery series based around an Inn in Holiday Bay run and owned by Abby Sullivan, with her trusty team.

It's busy as usual with a full Inn, when a snow storm hits. Georgia, Abby's Inn Manager is having relationship problems so is back living with Abby in her cottage. Tanner, Georgia's boyfriend is hosting donors to his dog training business for a week, but it's not plain sailing as Tanner is arrested, accused of murdering one of his wealthy donors.

There's a new employee at the Inn; Haven turns up with her dog, Baxter looking for work after being on the road for sometime. Abby takes her in but she's aware Haven isn't telling her the whole truth about her past.

Then there's new, unexpected guests in the form of a social worker with a young girl. Trapped by the storm, Heather seeks refuge whilst she's on her way to taking Holly to a new foster home.

It's certainly all go at the Inn, will there be a happy ending?

This is a great series, each book is easily read in a few hours. Whilst each book is a standalone mystery, the books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.

I'm looking forward to book 22 in the series. A great cosy mystery read based at Christmas.

I have read every book in this series and some have been excellent, but others just OK. This was an excellent one that had a good mystery along with a couple of additional story situations going on at the same time as the murder mystery. All, were well thought out and flowed nicely in the story. These stories and their characters are like visiting with friends. There is a comfortable feeling that spending some time with them brings. As always, I love the Maine setting and the inn that serves as the anchor for the characters that all have problems and baggage that colors and brings interest to their roles in the stories. This was a good installment of this ongoing saga. A quick Christmas time read.

When a dead body is found at a warehouse one of the inn's regulars is found sleeping in the parking lot and is arrested for murder.

As the Christmas season arrives it brings with it a massive snowstorm and closes the city. The guests at the inn are unable to leave and add their stories to the main storyline.

There is a new character added in, a desperate young woman shows up looking for a job and hiding secrets from Abby and Georgia.

The story is told well just like we've come to expect from Kathi Daley. The characters are loyal to each other and to the town. Just an all around good way to pass a snowy day.
