Creativity in a box
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 September 2013Verified Purchase
Having been a Creative Director for an Advertising agency I feel that I can comment on the contents of this book. It is simply the best example of how thinking can be structured to create new and innovative solutions. If you want to know the process of creative thinking this is a must read.

Forcefitting Hindsight based Analysis as Creativity Tools
Reviewed in Canada on 20 October 2018Verified Purchase
I enjoyed the case studies in the first two chapters i.e. subtraction and division.By the time I got to multiplication and unification, it was very clear that authors were force-fitting their theories about inventions on to case studies. Some of it did not make sense. As someone who strongly believes in the Closed Space methodology of inventions due to my work in harvesting Variety (V) in existing possibility space, I can say that the rest of the book is concept being mapped on to something more bigger. For those who want to invent, read this book for sure, but know that it heavily draws from TRIZ (A Russian method of Inventions), it is a rehash of TRIZ and only if you are lucky, it will help you come up with good inventions. Use this as one of the tools which may or may not work in a given context. By the time I reached the second part of the book, I felt disappointed.

A crude version of TRIZ, a bit fluffy
Reviewed in Canada on 30 October 2020Verified Purchase
The concept "Closed world" invented by Roni Horowitz is interesting but doesn't help with a solving a problem creatively. It's just a good, and more prices, definition of creativity in technical and business settings. The rest of the book is about the techniques, which are selected main principles of TRIZ and SCAMPER. The book is a bit fluffy, and the authors exaggerate about the usefulness of their technique, which is annoying. But it's still a good read. A better book would be "Strategies in creative problem solving" by Fogler et al.

Uma boa introdução o ASIT
Reviewed in Saudi Arabia on 20 September 2017Verified Purchase
