2.0 out of 5 starsUnnecessary for a GS student
Reviewed in India on 21 May 2019
Unnecessary book for just general studies. Too much details, totally irrelevant for a GS student.
I'm not sure how good is it for PSIR optional. But please don't waste your money and most importantly your time in case you're going to refer only for GS portion.
The author is himself a faculty at VajiRam and Ravi. And that's why he just indirectly forces you to buy this book. Trust me not even one page is relevant for GS.
All the best! Peace!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Less conceptual more factual
Reviewed in India on 17 July 2019

Book has most of factual contents and almost no conceptual contents.
Theories of IR are covered very briefly .
Chapters are inadequate for UN arms treaty, wars, disarmament etc.
Design of book is irritating as it's divided in 9 sections after looking from index it's very difficult to reach on the target page as I don't know how long a section is and often u find yourself struggling with pages and sections of book.
It may be good(m not sure) for civil services but its definitely
unsuitable for Pol Sc. UGC NET IR

4.0 out of 5 stars One-stop for IR
Reviewed in India on 6 December 2017

A good overall book, kind of a one-stop for IR as stated by the author in the preface. Of course, IR is dynamic, you need to supplement the book with daily news.
Mindmaps, diagrams, illustration is a plus point, helps you memorize more. One may start with Section A, Part B while reading, as it gives you a bird's-eye view of IR.
However, there are some mistake perhaps printing mistake as can be seen in Israel-Palestine issue H-13 (see pic) where the right side would be HAMAS (instead of FATAH). But If you are looking for a good book on IR, you can't go wrong with this book. Recommended!

A very Good book to start your International relations part for civil services examination either in GS 2 or for PSIR optional.
It must be supplemented with world Map, only then a better and clear picture can be made for whole International relations. The eye of the book is PART A Chapter 2. Must read at least two times.
