Jess loves all animals. She loves the natural world they live in, too. She thinks it is very important that we all work hard to protect the natural world, so she writes books about how we can do that. The books are mainly marketed at a children, but Jess knows that it's mostly the grown ups that need educating. She hopes that the wonderful children that read her books will be kind enough to educate the silly grown ups they meet about animals, the environment and what we can do to save them.

As well as writing, Jess works as a vet. She once ultrasounded a snow leopard and has also looked inside a crocodile's stomach! She is sometimes seen on CBeebies talking about minibeasts and also works as a teacher for school groups that are interested in animals and the natural world.

A lovely book from Dorling Kindersley, aimed at primary school age children. The title It's a Wonderful World sums up the amazing facts and pictures inside, with chapters ranging from Atmosphere and Water through Biodiversity of Animals and Habitats around the world. Each section is pithily covered in a double page spread with easy to read facts and suggestions for things we can do to help maintain our wonderful world - I like the short Good and the Bad chunks.
With all the interest in protecting the planet engendered by David Attenborough and others, this book by Jess French hits just the right note. A must for primary classrooms and an interesting book for all the family.

This is such a beautifully set out book that sections out aspects of the wonderful world we live in and looks at the biodiversity of animals, the good and bad contributing factors of different environments and all the living things on the ground and under the sea. It also looks at the water cycle, life cycles and the atmosphere. In fact there is so much in this book that it can be used for many aspects of a child’s education both scientific and emotional as they can’t NOT want to look after their environment after the facts they will learn here. A gorgeous book that should be on every child’s bookshelf.

This is pumped full of facts and great photos and illustrations. My eight year old brain box loves this book. Its full of loads of fresh information and facts that really hold his attention. Even as an adult with an interest in the topic I have seen lots of new subject matter that really is interesting.
I love how accessible this is as the text is short and to the point, nice bitesize chunks.
The book itself is great quality. Bold and bright pages, clear and vivid photographs and illustration. Robust hard cover.
My eight year old lad found the text readable for his level.

This book is excellent. It is really thick and durable but isn't heavy for children to carry around. The content is really interesting and very engaging with lots of colours, pictures and fun facts. My grandson has loved learning from this book, he requires support in reading because he is almost 5. I think if children are confident readers, they could read this independently from age 7. Definitely value for money, I love how inspiring it is and teaches children the importance of caring for our world.
