5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Classic
By Nandhini(Books and Bliss) on 8 May 2019
I ordered this absolutely beautiful Penguin leather bound edition of Jane Eyre. Jane Eyre is one of my all time favourite classic... It has a great romance and also has this Gothic elements in it. I really had a great time reading this book. Reading it in this particular edition was even more fun. The pages are are really thick... And it has an introduction and also a built-in bookmark.
But yes the book is little pricy.. But if you are a book lover and if you love collecting books then this is a must.
This book is about this little girl Jane Eyre who have really bad childhood and then she grows up in a charity school. Then she becomes a governess in this huge mansion called the Thornfield Hall.. There her life changes completely... I think you should know only this much before going into the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars A colour mismatch issue
By ANNIE CHAKRABORTY on 5 August 2018
The cover picture showed a black hardbound book and I received a navy blue one. Other than this colour mismatch I've no complains. The bridge is strong and the pages are first rate. The font size is good too. A pleasant product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dear Reader, I insist you to read this novel.
By Nazarin on 23 January 2021
Set in the early 19th century Northern England, Jane Eyre is a story with descriptive and moving narration, necessary characters and plot twists with a lot of gothic imageries. The novel is romantic, engaging, thrilling and quite astonishing. The character of Jane Eyre is beautifully crafted, with full of courage and spirit. She possesses a sense of her self worth and dignity, a commitment to justice and principle a trust in god, and a passionate disposition..such a respectable character! As a character driven plot, the story pictures some staggering realities of the victorian period; the strict social hierarchy and a woman's struggle to find the right balances between moral duty and earthly pleasure.

The major themes in the novel includes family, religion, gender discrimination and self discovery. Jane Eyre is very much the story of a quest to be loved. The importance of family and love is mentioned many times in the story. The presence of anxiety and uncertainty throughout the novel, the gothic imageries such as the terrifying Red Room and the mysterious occurences at the Thornfield Hall and the repeated appearances of fire and ice offers a suspensful and unpredictable reading experience. I highly recommend this evocative and emotionally resonant classic novel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet so profound
By Shan on 27 June 2019
Charlotte Brontë has written an all time classic which will have relevance across ages and centuries. This is a story of s strong yet demure woman who defies gravity to stand for herself and portrays what has been so difficult to achieve across ages for humans.

Jane's character is so strong that it completely engrosses you in the story. The plots thickens as you read through and the blend of the story, plot and characters is nothing less than perfect. What I didn't like about the book is the intensity. Such plots need to become more and more intense as the reading progresses. I found that missing here. Otherwise still this is definitely a keeper and a must read.

The story itself is interesting and after losing my old copy I decided to get a new one. However, this book was so awful I have now repurchased another else where to replace this one. Despite the book being quite big, the text is incredibly small but also awkward in having three columns per page. I am an avid reader but really struggled with this format and couldn’t get past a few pages. Very disappointing and a waste of money.
