Product description
Review
“I have used the MathStart series with students and even with my own children for a number of years now. Stuart J. Murphy has written books that develop mathematical concepts for all who read and listen to them. To find these books accompanied by activities for both home and school is a gift for all learners.” -- Jonathan Dueck, Director, STEM Education, Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Fresno, California
"Each kid-engaging MathStart book is focused on a specific math concept, the vocabulary is age appropriate, and the story lines with delightful illustrations are easy for kids to follow. These books are a perfect springboard into a lesson or review of a lesson and should be read and read again! Guaranteed Teacher and Child Approved." -- Catherine Kuhns, M.Ed., National Board-Certified Teacher, Early Childhood, Presidential Award for Mathematics Teaching, Teacher over 35 years (31 in Broward County Florida)

From the Back Cover
Elephants, rabbits, and birds shop in this funny grocery store. Can you guess what the little rabbit wants more of? Munchy, crunchy carrots, of course! And fewer of? Squirmy worms and chewy peanuts (yuck!). So why is his mother buying all those cans of worms?

We have most of the MathStart books. They are simply fantastic! Mr. Murphy has a knack for simplifying the concept for little kids and the illustrations are very striking. We read a new one every week and read it once a day (an idea borrowed from a friend). The books also have some activities that go with the concept.

This book has a child complaining throughout grocery shopping - Not exactly what you want to teach kids to do. Not sure if I will keep the book.

This whole at home online education thing doesn’t seem to be as good as in person but this definitely helps supplement what they are getting from the online experience.

Fun, rhyming, same-more-fewer math themed book that children will request.
Reviewed in the United States on 4 October 2016Verified Purchase
Fun, rhyming, same-more-fewer math themed book that children will request. I work with special needs preschool children and work on concepts through play, games and read alouds- this is one of the first "Math Start" series books I purchased for my practice. The
rhymes, illustrations, and relatable story of shopping with Mom hold children's attention and they don't even know they are learning! Brilliant! "Typical" 2's or verbal 18 month-olds would enjoy this one...up to math challenged 2nd grade...
