Will also go well alongside Bert’s other book; Keys to Drawing. I genuinely believe these two books would be of huge value and importance in art schools and also for artists, professional or not. Art/creativity should be about having a fun time creating but also I think, achieving a product that you are happy with in the end. Practical information and practical demonstrations but also at the same time empowerment of the artist themselves to create whatever it is they wish to create. Bert installs that self belief.
Lots of fun exercises which will inform your practice.
Some exercises are things I have done casually without any real strategy; the author takes those ideas and made me look at them afresh opening them out into useable tools.
Easy to read and follow; very well illustrated and although you can dip in anywhere, if your like me, you will end up going though the book chronologically as well :)
I have it on kindle and the only disappointment is not being able to zoom in on some of the pictures to see the detail.
Highly recommend for someone like me who is pretty new to sketching.
