A new series from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Stalking Jack the Ripper.
Emilia and her twin sister Vittoria are streghe - witches who live secretly among humans, avoiding notice and persecution. One night, Vittoria misses dinner service at the family's renowned Sicilian restaurant. Emilia soon finds the body of her beloved twin . . . desecrated beyond belief. Devastated, Emilia sets out to find her sister's killer and to seek vengeance at any cost-even if it means using dark magic that's been long forbidden.
Then Emilia meets Wrath, one of the Wicked-princes of Hell she has been warned against in tales since she was a child. Wrath claims to be on Emilia's side, tasked by his master with solving the series of women's murders on the island. But when it comes to the Wicked, nothing is as it seems . . .

I really liked the Emilia.Liked that she is cultured and lovely but when necessary she could be savage and monstrous. While I really hate characters, doesn't matter which gender, who are rude without a cause towards people who are trying to be helpful, I found her impoliteness and wariness towards the Duoteragonist Wrath really interesting and justified.
The perpetrator was obvious. The traitor was obvious too. All in all I found the whole plot really obvious but Kerri's writing was what set the atmosphere and held the interest of the readers. The old Victorian atmosphere in Sicily. The description of everything, including the food and items needed for witchcraft weren't long and were put out as long as they held interest and necessity.
All in all I am held up and excited for the next book and am hoping to really see where Maniscalco takes us next with Emilia and possibly Wrath.

Which makes Emilia to turn vengeful. Her main goal is vengeance. She wants to find who killed her sister but in the process she enters herself into darkness of hell who she never thought is true but when she meets prince wrath of hell, she believes not all folklore are just stories. Everything is true. Together they try to find her sister murderer or has wrath have any other plans for her which you need to find out.

I'm so hooked to this book that I completed it so fast. Wrath is my favourite character. He is something I want to get drown into and never get up. He is so beautiful and addictive 😍. His bond with Emilia is intriguing, it reminded me of feyre and Rhys bond expect it's not a bargain tho. The idea of this tattoos growing is so good. And I liked the character development of Emilia. She was so naive in the start but by the end she is a queen.
I wished there's more parts of Vittoria.
Instead of using omg, Emilia says blood and bones I loved that so mach.
💀
Tittle:
The book name makes so sense. Yes the kingdom of hell is so wicked. I loved snake being on the cover coz it represents wrath. Flowers represents Emilia and skull or I call it bones represents both Emilia and wrath's world. The cover is so perfect and I loved it.
💀
Author:
This is the first book I read of this author. I'm impressed by her work. Her writing is understandable and even though she uses Italian in her books, she also explains the meaning which I liked most about. I wanted to read her jack the ripper series but couldn't so I started this book and I loved it.

When the author of a series that made me root for a strong, intelligent feminist heroine with her first series - you just know that I would be obsessively looking out for the first book in a series about narcissistic Princes of Hell and a young witch hell bent on revenge - and I imagine you would have heard my screams when I was approved for the eARC of the book!
A family of witches living in hiding and running their own restaurants and the twin girls of the family have grown up with the cautionary tales of Princes of Hell and their seductive powers from their grandmother; never wondering or even believing that those tales were actually true.
When one of the twins finds her sister horrifically murdered; it puts her on a journey that will open her eyes to the secrets that her own twin was keeping from her; but also that the tales that her grandmother used to tell her and her sister were not only true but that she has a huge part to play in it!
Like any first book in a series; there is a whole lot of world building, but the best part I have found in Maniscalco’s writing and plotting is that; we find our way WITH the protagonist rather willing them to finally reach the conclusion that we as readers would have already known from the start - trust me, it makes a whole lot of difference to be ON the journey with the MC rather than being a spectator.
And can I just say, no one, NO ONE writes a sarcastic, narcissistic and charmingly careless, yet impeccably dressed anti - villain like Maniscalco does (okay, don’t @ me with Kaz, he is on a whole different level!) - and thus, making sure that the reader is not only invested in the story, but almost certainly WANTS more!
If you have read Stalking Jack The Ripper series; you will most definitely find similarities, though that could just be writing style of the author - and the distinctive atmospheric plot that she is known for!
P. S. There were a few editing issues and pacing of the plot line - which I am really hoping that the final copy won’t have!

This book has been my most anticipated read of the year, being a huge fan of Kerri Maniscalco’s works and admiring her skills as a writer. So, there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to love this book, I just didn’t expect to love it quite this much.
Emilia made for an absolutely brilliant protagonist. She’s brave, self-assured and slightly stubborn at times. She’s someone who takes no nonsense, not even from demons from Hell, and is desperate to avenge her twin sister, no matter what that would cost her. She’s an incredibly admirable protagonist, and it was a joy to read her journey from start to finish.
Wrath was another character who was deeply enjoyable to read about, exploring his relationship with Emilia with the use of luscious description and bouncing dialogue. They interacted beautifully together, spitting bile at one another until their relationship softened more and I loved every moment I read about them.
Although, Vittoria wasn’t mentioned much within the novel, her character meeting an unfortunate end quite early on, there was still a lot of character modelling involved in Maniscalco’s writing. This was a brilliant technique, making you feel for the characters after her death and caring about them; I was truly devastated, Emilia and Vittoria’s relationship being wonderful to witness up until that point.
The writing itself is wonderfully written, with lengthy descriptions and entertaining dialogue. The setting was explored beautifully through interactions between the characters, with explanations dotted around for those experiencing language barriers. That’s not to say that this book holds your hand however, being subtly done to not draw you away from the story itself.
Overall, I adored this book. Maniscalco truly has a talent for writing and that shines through in this novel. It was an absolute joy to read and I will be returning to it again and again.

Rome, one of the most fascinating places in the world even from thousands of years ago , with its hidden passages and mysterious habitants, it’s one of my to-visit places yet to tick off from my list, even more now after reading this charmingly written story.
I admired how our heroine is illustrated as a strong inexperienced girl, assertive and loving of her family, how underneath her warrior shield, she is compassionate and her love doesn’t have limits for her sister. Thus, her heart is driven by a revenge mission where twists and turns that kept me on the edge throughout the story won’t stop her from finding the truth. She is willing to make a deal with the devil, and something wicked comes out of it.
If you love enemies to lovers, suspenseful and mystical world build, you need to read this book.

This was the perfect book to start of the Halloween season: Demons, witches, vampires, witch hunters, werewolves and more.
Emilia is on the warpath after the death of Vittoria her twin sister.
As a witch she has feared being found out, but now nothing will stop her from seeking, and delivering, vengeance... even if that means summoning a demon. The Demon in question happens to be Wrath, one of the demon prince's of hell, who happens to be looking into the murders himself.
Events happen that show a different side to Wrath and that hatred begins to cool.
A battle of good vs evil, a prophesy and knowledge...that if you can't harm those who have betrayed you, have hurt you and your family, and killed innocents- then you take the fight to them... and if that means ripping it apart from the inside, so be it.
...
The introduction to the spells is not only easy to understand, but realistic to the occult (candles, items, etc) and the world building makes it easy to slip into it. Easy to read and enjoyable.
Tropes: forbidden romance, enemies to lovers.
4/5

I really enjoyed this book. I can’t say I always knew what was going on, but it was a fun ride.
The world was fascinating and there was so much to digest, witches, magic, demons and cooking. Lots and lots of cooking. Some of the food prep scenes left me super hungry.
Emilia – portrayed as the more sensible one compared to her twin, is actually wonderfully reckless. If it wasn’t for her risk taking I’m not sure I’d like her as much!
Wrath – for a demon prince from hell, he appears quite reserved when we first meet him. It’s clear that Emilia gets under his skin and there is an instant chemistry between them. He’s dark and mysterious just the way I like my romance leads!
I want to say everything started to come together in the end, but there were more head spinning revelations and possibilities that I really don’t think I understood what was happening until I closed the book and reflected.
It was a relief to know I had the second installment in my possession because the ending was a cliff hanger.
For me this book lived up to the hype. The whole atmosphere of the book was intense and we all know I love a slow burn romance! This could be a favourite series.
