Olivia Hawker's "Landing" was a poignantly written short story that focused on a young husband (Alan) and his wife (Carol) who had a whirlwind romance and were thrust into marriage due to her pregnancy. Because everything had happened so fast, they didn't really know each other; thus, Alan kept questioning his love for Carol. The narrative took place during the moon launch where Alan was a NASA engineer who focused on his work. After overcoming some adversity in their marriage and after speaking with his father-in-law, Alan had an epiphany! I liked the short story.

You seem to take forever to decide when all that needs to be done is to look directly into the eyes of each member of your family. Family should be the most important of all things. I have read many of Olivia Hawker’s novel’s, she is one of my favorite historical fiction writer. Normally very detailed oriented, this story was about a man’s shortcomings and his own self loathing because of it. Not bad for a short story.
