BKS Iyengar’s translation and commentary on these ancient yoga sutras has been described as the “bible” of yoga.
This edition contains an introduction by BKS Iyengar, as well as a foreword by Godfrey Devereux, author of Dynamic Yoga.
Patanjali wrote this collection of yoga wisdom over 2,000 years ago. They are amongst the world’s most revered and ancient teachings and are the earliest, most holy yoga reference.
The Sutras are short and to the point – each being only a line or two long. BKS Iyengar has translated each one, and provided his own insightful commentary and explanation for modern readers.
The Sutras show the reader how we can transform ourselves through the practice of yoga, gradually developing the mind, body and emotions, so we can become spiritually evolved.
The Sutras are also a wonderful introduction to the spiritual philosophy that is the foundation of yoga practise.
The book is thoroughly cross-referenced, and indexed, resulting in an accessible and helpful book that is of immense value both to students of Indian philosophy and practitioners of yoga.

One suggestion to the publisher, the font is too small to read for people with reading glasses. It strains the eyes too much and spoils the pleasure of reading.
Well explained in simple english, This is a good first book on Pathajali Sutras
This book is one of best expositions of Patanjali's yoga sutras. The problem is with the Kindle version. The Sanskrit script is too small. Also, the sanskrit font size does not increase with the English font. I request that this problem be corrected at the earliest as currently the Sanskrit script is quite unreadable.

For better understanding they included flow charts, Tables which makes it very interesting.
Go for it. It's a must.
This book- Yogasutras of Patanjali is an example of an ancient Indian text. It is an excellently written book with lucid explanations.
Thank you guruvu garu, for teaching us simplified methods and discussing yoga for various personal and health challenges in detail, and, for providing solutions for them through yoga. It is real light.

I am a little unimpressed with the packaging though on Amazon's part. I was expecting the typical cardboard book box that is easily recycled and instead got a plastic bubble wrap package which can not be. I know people will say I can save it to reuse, but haven't managed that in the past as I have a drawer full of them already. Also the bubble wrap didn't protect it anyway, as there is damage to the spine due to impact of hitting the floor after being pushed through letter box.
Moan over. Buy the book if you're interested in deepening your understanding of the philosophy and teachings behind yoga. There is so much more to it than being flexible and making "shapes".
