Love Beyond 22 Yards by Sourabh Mukherjee is a collection of romantic love stories. It majorly highlights the theme of true love between celebrities and cricketers. The book has offered a lot of unique stories with different twists and suspense. The stories in the book are so gripping that a reader easily connects with them and feels as if it's her love story. The book is filled with a lot of emotions like love, care, grief, joy, anger, etc. The title of the book is very justifiable to the theme. The cover is extremely attractive. The book has been flawlessly penned down by the author. The presentation style of the book is commendable. The stories were addictive. Overall, it was a light, emotional and wonderful read.
I would rate the book 4/5
Soul mate is definitely one of them. People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. But to live with a soul mate forever? Nah. Too painful. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then leave. A soul mates purpose is to shake you up, tear apart your ego a little bit, show you your obstacles and addictions, break your heart open so new light can get in, make you so desperate and out of control that you have to transform your life, then introduce you to your spiritual master. To catalyst the above notion, the author has incorporated the essence of heroism into the plot. Heroes in fact die with one's youth. They are pinned like butterflies to the setting board of early memories—the time when skies were always blue, the sun shone and the air was filled with the sounds and scents of grass being cut. I find myself still as desperate to read the Sussex score in the stop-press as ever I was; but I no longer worship heroes, beings for whom the ordinary scales of human values are inadequate. One learns that as one grows up, so do the gods grow down. It is in many ways a pity: for one had thought that heroes had no problems of their own. Now one knows different.
6 couples from different city, places & countries once again prove similar souls wander in the similar places! They may not know each other, but often they touch the same winds, they step on the same leaves, their looks are lost in the same horizons!
The author also gives a perspective of live while he concludes the plot. Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won't either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.
First of all, I would appreciate the research the author has done for these stories. He has put in lot of efforts. I believe that writing short stories is difficult as compared to writing a full fledged novel. You've to express everything in the defined word limit.
The narration has been done really well. The language is lucid. A few stories have been divided into tiny chapters and it gives an amazing reading experience. These love stories have been written from heart. Every story you read will make you go 'aww'. I wouldn't go into the details of the stories as it would be a spoiler.
I just have to say one thing - this book will not disappoint you. It's a must read.
'Love Beyond 22 Yards' brings you real life stories of people who defied all the norms and boundaries even tI the extent of sacrificing their careers, all in the name of love.
Celebrities in their own right, even they were not spared by the familial pressure and the boundaries set by the society.
The writing style is biographical in nature. The author has included some interesting trivia in the narrative that will engage cricket and Bollywood fans alike. In some places he has taken creative liberty and created scenes just to showcase the gist of their relationship to the readers. The narration was balanced between their personal and professional lives and in any way did not veer the attention away from their career achievements.
This book is something that ardent Bollywood and cricket fans will definitely cherish.
